I have a problem with when I go into mania I tend to rush through everything. When my brain is racing I tend to rush through things because my brain is saying rush rush rush. It causes me to make a lot of mistakes though. How can I keep myself from rushing so I can quit making so many mistakes my fiance gets so mad at me because a lot of my mistakes cost money. I want to be able to stop rushing all the time please help me.

Theres a pill for that.

Be aware of your mood and make a conscious effort to manage it.

I do this as well. In my mania i go fro. One thing to the next try to do 15 things in a day.

Ie. Play golf, go to the gym, see a movie, have 8 meaninful phone conversations with old college friends, write in my journal, read my book, skype my girlfriendetc etc

I find it helpful to write about coping strategies on paper, like i want to be aware next time of my mania, and put a stop to the nonsense etc

My problem is I went off my meds without doctor approval. I have been off my meds for so long that my mental state has gotten so bad that I begged my fiance to take over control of my money because I have a problem with overspending in a manic episode and can't stop myself from blowing all of my money. I still pay all of my bills on time but after they are paid any left over money I have that I need to last me 2 weeks only last me a day or two three or four if I get lucky.

I have taken a dose last night and my morning does today. I tend to forget to take it but I have a white board on my fridge so I wrote the the time for the next two does of my meds for today and the times to take them tomorrow to help me remember since I tend to get in the fridge a lot so I will always see it.

Getting back on ur meds is very important. Are you seeing somebody as well? Do they know you stopped taking them?

I too have issues with spending when I'm manic.

I think your behavior is typical of a manic rush, impulsivity and indescretion when it comes to spending. And as others have said, the way you're going to stop it is by getting on the meds again.

But.

Because you're currently in a manic phase (I don't know what meds you're on) you're probably going to find some need dosage adjusting.

For instance, if you're on an AD this might be lowered. If you're on an AP, this might be increased.

Don't try gamble with dosage adjustments yourself.

Please go see your pdoc.

Be well.
Thanks for this!

You need to find a pdoc and hopefully get seen quickly. Sometimes is takes weeks to be seen as most Pdoc are booked weeks and months in advance.

So meanwhile, Do you have coping skills you can use? Hows your sleeping ? That super important to staying stable. Even if you can't sleep force your self to lay down and stay there for 6-8 hours at least. Self grounding and Mindfulness can be a huge help, Use cardio or running exercises to help burn off some of that energy.

I hope your able to get into see someone quickly.

Stay safe
