I take seroquel (quietipan) - fast release - at night before I go to bed at night and that makes me zzzzzz pretty quickly.
I also take seroquel XR at night but that's a very slow release one. Be well. |

Have your tried taking your Trazodone earlier in the night? There are Sleeping pills you could try. Ambien ? Lunesta? along with the nautral options like melatonin. Do you have good sleep Hygiene? if not that could be more of the problem.
Seems lots of Pdocs are prescribing AP's for the sedating effect. Good luck

43campt, I agree, Xanax does not make me sleepy. I haven't taken it in about 25 years. I did take klonopin for about 13 years and it never made me tired. Trazadone knocked me out cold, but I hated it because I felt so groggy. I've had trouble sleeping for bouts, but not long term. I've heard great things about melatonin. But as for prescriptions, small dose of Zyprexa does it for me these days. A little groggy the next day, but not as bad as trazadone.

I was put on 400mg of Seroquel to put me to sleep when I was admitted to the hospital. That did the trick. Of course, I didn't wake up until 10:00 the next morning. What's working for me at the moment is 50mg Trazadone and 50 mg Seroquel (immediately release). However, I've had a night or two that nothing worked. Just can't turn off the brain sometimes.
Good luck!

This is basically how I manage my sleep issues.
Maintaining my circadian rhythm has had an overwhelmingly positive effect on my stability. The withdrawal I've been in throughout this year totally screwed up my sleep cycle and getting sleep became increasingly difficult. Getting things back into balance wasn't easy, but now that I've learned what to do I am able to get regular sleep. I've found what works for me and it doesn't require psychotropics. Currently I use 300-600mcg of time release melatonin, which is sold by Life Extension on Amazon. If I had another episode of chronic acute insomnia to treat I would drop 5mg of instant dissolve melatonin right when going to bed as well as 5mg of time release melatonin. After things have settled I'd reduce the dosage of the instant over a week, just nibble a smaller and smaller piece off instead of taking the whole thing, then go to lower dosages of time release. Ashwagandha can interact with other medications, such as enhancing the effect of benzos, which has the potential to cause harm if not taken into account. It can do the same for some of the sleep inducing effects of melatonin, which I have found to be very beneficial. I suggest talking with a psychiatrist before using Ashwagandha or L-Theanine. If he or she is unfamiliar with them the site examine.com has comprehensive summaries and citations of research articles which they can use to at least provide some educated guidance. Though, to be honest, while people may vary in their response to these substances they are generally very safe. Safe in that there are few, if any, side effects nearly all of which are minor. Personally, I have yet to report any adverse reaction to them after months of chronic administration. While I've grown to appreciate sleep aids, I believe dark therapy is more crucial to getting regular sleep. The only possible side effect from it is boredom ![]()

Melatonin doesn't do crap for me.
Melatonin helps you stay asleep throughout the night, it isn't really meant for help falling asleep. Just found out I can't combine trazodone and lithium. On the way to apt with doc now lol, 8:15 at night will see what he says. |

Xanax never put me to sleep. That did not seem to even keep be calm. Seroquel would Would help me sleep, but then contributed to the suicidal thoughts. Sometimes it is tough to find the correct meds. Wish you the best and hope you find what works for you.

ask your doctor for a 100 mg seroquel pills 14 of them and then cut it in half
fallow up with some of the natural sleep stuff i linked yah ............u will need 10 hours first few nights until u get use to it then u can go to 8 or 7 if half a pill sound like a lot to start with go with a quarter of a pill if that knocks u out u made a 2 weeks supply into 2 month other wise u made it into a month supply after that the only other thing i got for u is the what if game get a thought and run it down at the end say what if and keep doing that until u can not anymore wear the mind out with possible choices and varibles on a idea if that does not work u are left to 3 options .....sex to make u sleepy/tire u out.......rubber mallet and a swift whack to the head........the final one is let it go and run out until u just pass out (note after 46 hours u should no longer drive or do anything that requires more thinking then a 5 year old ) if u make it to 120 hours call 911 and have them trank u once under a doctors watch ..........again do not drive or try to do anything if u are getting close to 48 hours awake .....your judgement and reaction times are really messed up (order pizza or eat cereal) no coffee no caffeine |

If circadian rhythms are a problem for you you might try taking melatonin in the afternoon to reset your sleep patterns. By taking it in the afternoon your body starts getting ready for the evening. It's been working for me but don't start if you need to be alert and/or drive until you know how it affects you. I take 10mg plus I now have a nightly routine that tells my body it's getting ready for sleep.

I had this issue and my dr gave me ambien, reluctantly bc it's so addictive. What I actually found that worked for me was Benadryl. It took a bit to fall asleep but that did help me a lot. Also some ppl mentioned melatonin I've heard that's a good one too. Seroquel made me too zombie like I was like a different person like a walker. But that doesn't mean it won't work for you. Everyone is different. Good luck I think we all know how infuriating lack of sleep is and it's important for our recoveries.
