I've recently been diagnosed with possible Bipolar disorder and OCD tendencies (When I have thoughts of hurting people or hurting myself I need to act on them or else I think I'm going to go insane) Anyway, recently I took a liking to a girl, sent her poetry, bought her gifts etc. Then I snapped, said she was using me for self personal gain and never wanted to talk to her again, I don't even feel bad currently but my mood has fluctuated from depressed with suicidal thoughts to happy that I got rid of her. This occurred within 15mins of being nice and sweet to her. I was wondering is this common when liking people, has anyone else experienced this issue?

(I was diagnosed 4 days ago and I am unmedicated)

I'm gathering you're working with a psychiatrist- or will be in the very near future if you do get final confirmation that you are bipolar or wish to see one for evaluation of being bipolar?

I'm a bit perplexed at the part where it says you were diagnosed 4 days ago and aren't on meds. Is that because at this stage it only remains a "possibility" and is not a confirmed diagnosis as of yet?

If it does turn out to be a diagnosis of bipolar you can certainly discuss with your psychiatrist which kind of bipolar you have as there are a few categories.

Your intense attraction and then sudden repulsion of this girl could be due to a number of reasons.

It would be hard for me to speculate if I don't know if you're saying you have bipolar or not.
Thanks for this!

I've had countless people assume I'm bipolar for about 4 years, I went to a psychiatrist for a diagnosis after a failed suicide attempt which 2 days later I was quite happy and fine and needed to sign a bunch of forms to say I won't commit suicide and I'm going to go to the hospital psychiatrist when I'm paid from work, it's going to cost me quite a hefty sum of cash as I am not a citizen of this Country.

Did the psychiatrist give you a confirmed diagnosis of bipolar?

Or are you just saying people "assume" you are?

I had a psychologist diagnose sorry, I am looking at the evaluation currently which says that I am currently in a depressive episode and that I have had a past Manic episode and that I need psychiatric evaluation.

I also had this occur to me while living in Melbourne Australia where after a failed suicide attempt the hospital just let me go without a psychiatric evaluation.

Okay, psychologists can be pretty clued up.

You'll need that psychiatric evaluation sooner rather than later because if it turns out that you do have a dx of bipolar you need to get on meds.

Your mood is quite unstable.

My mood can fluctuate, and has been known to change multiple times in a day without anything occurring or triggering it, I go from happy to crying while watching cartoons.

I plan to when I'm paid from work. It's going to cost me over $300 just to see the doctors in Canada.

Yeah it's a bugger all the good things in life can sometimes be expensive!

Sounds like your mood fluctuates rapidly.

If that's the case I'm sure a pdoc can help you when you get around to seeing them.

I am trying too, but I'm completely relying on work currently.

I went to a psychologist originally because I thought my ADHD carried onto adulthood and has affected my work, but the psychologist said that she's met a lot of adults with ADHD and that I don't fit any of the criteria for it. :/

It is hard when mood jumps as you describe during the day. I have similar changes throughout the day. Perhaps not as intense at this time. It may be a lot of money to you, but it will be a lot more if you don't go. It could be catastrophic in cost if end up acting on something you could avoid. Wish you the best.

UH- sounds complicated to me, and probably caught her off guard too. Maybe some professional help would be in order before another relationship is started. I think medications is a must myself.

No I've attempted to look and I've asked but alas there is none. I feel to a certain extent that I need to harm myself to the point of hospital admission but I'm so dependent on my Job that I need to work and it's conflicting and making me insane.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend putting yourself in danger in order to get a hospital admission. Tempting. But no good.

I don't want to, but at times I feel like it's the only hope.

When we feel like all doors are closing .... We can get ideas that are unreasonable that pop into our head. I know I've done that before. But we shouldn't follow through. Tempting. Yes. Rational. No.

I know, at times I think the only thing keeping me alive is my intelligence and understanding of things.
