i honestly don't think it's a general thing.

in my experience anyway, i don't think their'd be man people in the general pubblic hwo would get affected by noises quite so much as i do

Oh, I think it's typical of bipolar to be extra-sensitive to noise. The noise inside our minds is loud enough - add external noise and the whole thing is VERY LOUD.

That's what I have to do. Just literally leave and get away from it to prevent myself from going into a full fledged rage. I read recently that rage can be interrupted & prevented if we get away from the trigger fast enough and think about something else ASAP. I may have to take up running again.

I just can't stand slamming doors. I practically have a stroke every time I hear it. I swear, I'd remove every door and cabinet in my house if I could. What a peaceful environment it would be then. Like a SPA!

My mom rolls her own cigarettes and taps them repeatedly to get the tobacco packed tight, she goes through a whole packs worth like that, sometimes it drives me to want to scream, other times I don't notice it

When I had my agitation in December sounds would send me into rage. Like punch a hole in the wall or scream rage. I had to start running from triggers.

Fit draft excluding strips - reduces the slam saves fuel.

What's a draft? If it will make a door quieter, I'd surely like to know.

if the door in the house has a draft or air current the door will slam harder because the doors moves more freely

if the house is tightly sealed no place for the air to be drawl in from shutting a door is softer the air is restricting so it makes the movement slower so less force when it closes less sound

the best way to see this is a place that is sealed well try to open the door fast u feel the pull back ....now open a window and do the same thing u see how easy/ fast it was

OMG do I relate to this. I am angry & irritable at the best of times. I can add to this with church bells, people who click pens, the squeal of hearing aids when I guess they are not in properly, people on those bongo drums. I want to go inside the church and smack the ringers in the mouth, ram the pens in their eye, rip out hearing aids & ram the faces of those drumming, into the bongos. In fact, I am quite irritated right now just thinking of those sounds. You are defo not alone.

I'm really sensitive to sound. I hate it when people are laughing and talking loudly. But what I simply cannot stand is people screaming and yelling for any reason. Children screaming while they're playing, drunk women shrieking at each other. I get so tense and physically upset about it. It scares me a lot. I wish people would not scream unless something is wrong.

Something in the sound of my hair dryer sets me off, but only sometimes. I want to bash the dam thing against the door jamb.

I also have real problems when there are two conversations at the same time in close quarters' especially at the same volume. I can't track the conversation I'm supposed to be in and it feels as though everyone is telling at me. Can bring me to the verge of tears in seconds.

Too many noises all at the same time. Makes me feel like I am 'double tracking' [from the 8-track tape era]. I generally feel I can not focus on one thing and it is just a garble of aggravating noise.

Loud noises ie voices, tv, etc. The fan in our fireplace seems loud to me. The buzz of florescent lights. A rattle in a vehicle. Badly behaved children make me want to run, or throttle their parents. People coming in and out of the house several times. Slamming doors. Phones ringing. My guy has friends and involved in many businesses. His phone rings a lot. Ring tones from certain ppl. Some of those ppl are negative, the others are needy. Ppl who talk loudly on their phones, like I needed to hear all that. Phones, period, where most go to relax, eatery, coffee shop, etc. The furnace running. Loud tv shows, and loud commercials.

I think we are supersensitive to our surroundings. It is possible that it is not us who are supersensitive, but those around us who have numbed themselves.

I also have visual and situational triggers.

Several languages being spoken at the same time makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why. I avoid the breakroom at work because of this. I find it un nerving.

For me the sound of breathing is my main one. Its been that way ever since I was 10 or so. When my sisters were asleep, even several rooms away, I absolutely could not stand it. I would go into their rooms and shake them or pinch their nose for a few seconds or hit their stomach to make them stop breathing so loudly if only for a few moments. Now I don't have to deal with that usually, but we went on a family vacation this past summer and I had to share a bed with one of my younger sisters. It was all I could do to not make her stop. I ended up putting my giant pair of headphones on and blasting a 10 hour long Enya playlist through the entire night so I could try and get some sleep. My ears hurt SO bad from the music so loud... But I could somehow still hear her breathing through the music.

Another sound I can't stand is my youngest sisters voice right now. She is 6 and so it is changing, right now its at the exact pitch or something that I just cannot stand. I feel bad, but I have to ask her not to talk around me, or to whisper (makes it so her voice doesn't bother me) if she wants me to stick around.

Also just many noises at once and I get so agitated.

So glad to know others have this problem!
