So, I asked my question twice and each time he completely ignored me! He did not even say sorry I don't have any advice he just skipped over me twice and let me sit there for 30 min. Least he could have done is simply say he could not help me!

So I will ask my question and maybe someone else can relate. I get sudden mood shifts that will last for a few hours at a time despite being on a mood stabilizer. I go to my pdoc and each time they just up my mood stabilizer. Does anyone else experience this and have advice on how to correct it?

When your mood shifts is it clearly outta the blue ~or~ is it a reaction that is from something situational ?

I'm sorry you didn't get an answer in chat , I have never gone there so I'm not sure how that even works.

I wanted to know if there was something else I should be taking or doing. My pdoc just keeps uping my mood stabilizer. He literally skipped over my question twice. He could not even give me the courtesy of saying idk the answer. Just left me there waiting while he answered everyone else's question. How unprofessional. Seriously if you are going to offer assistance to people online, it should not leave them in a worse spot.

The last time it happened was at three o'clock in the morning. I woke up in the state. Idk if I had a bad dream or what but these mood swings make it hard to plan my life and disrupt my daily function. I hate having to rely on people to help me that have no idea how it feels! I just don't trust mental health professionals. I try to but I can't.

Are you seeing a Therapist ?

Through Therapy I have learned I have lots of Triggers that I was not aware I even had and that is what was hitting me and my moods all over the place.

Bipolar really doesn't swing in hours or a day like you describe, Unless someone is in a Mixed episode , but your description doesn't even sniff of mixed in my opinion.

It's confusing to nail down , But if your being triggered..... increasing your MS is a waste of time, as medication wont help a reaction to a trigger, you have to dig in to yourself and see what you might uncover... make sense?

Just something to consider. I hope you find some relief

I actually do have mixed states or at least dramatic shifts within a single day. As for triggers, my whole life is a trigger right now.

Typically bipolar states don't change within minutes, hours, days. That usually is more indicative of personality disorders. Which would mean that medication isn't going to help all that much. Therapy might be able to help you manage the moods and triggers better than medication changes.

Was it a busy chat? Sometimes messages just get lost or not noticed; I'm sure it was not an intentional ignore.

I discussed this possibility with my therspist and pdoc recently. i had a month a few years ago where my energy was high. Sleeping two to three hours a night and exercising for four plus hours a day and I had steady periods of depression before that point and after. For this reason they won't change my diagnoisis. After my mom died is when the rapid shift change started. I started taking medicine a year ago and though it does help, it does not work all the time. The best way I could describe it to them is it is like having a car that works fine and then randomly breaks down. I did find an article on ultra-rapid cycling and that matches what I go through to some degree but it really did not say what to do to correct it. I have started exercising more, eating healthier, maintaining a steady sleep schedule etc. I hope this combined with the med increase will help. I suppose it is possible to have both. I will look more into the traits of personality disorders vrs bipolar. Thanks for the suggestion.

When I get in a fight with my partner, it's a massive trigger. I will feel worthless, over the top angry and get suicidal thoughts.
It feels like an instant mood switch out of nowhere but I've caught on now that it's actually a big trigger.

Are there any times during the day that you notice it happen? Anybody around? Conversations that occur before hand? Things you see?

We now work together to prevent arguments or end them quickly which is *amazing* for our relationship but I've also noticed that I'd wake up pi**ed and randomly get angry and depressed throughout the day for "no reason" just to find out when I saw clutter somewhere it'd trigger a reaction. Clutter... Even small.

Pay really close attention to your environment and the things around you. There may possibly be a silent trigger. It took almost 2years to pin point the clutter trigger.

I just looked into different personality disorders. I don't meet the requirements of bpd which is the closest comparison to bp2. I did however meet the requirements of avoident personality disorder. The problem with these test is they are yes or no and the answer is not always clear cut. My mood is triggered by stressful situations. I get more depressed on gloomy days and days I have over extended myself. I also get more depressed when idle. Regarding anger and irritability, I do experience these but they aren't out if the blue. It is usually related to something like being cut of in traffic a cust yelling st me, being forced to work OT...watching a dr in a bipołar chat room answer every question but mine without having the decently to I don't have an answer for you. I Do handle stressful events better on somedays then others.

There's also always the chance that you're just a very moody person. Not everything is a disorder or related to one.
