After a long talk, I decided not to go IP. If I start too feel like I truly can't cope again, I'm going to the ER to be transfered.
I forgot I have an appointment tomorrow to get this gigantic cast replaced with a smaller one.
The following day I am scheduled to see the counselor. I'm going to tell her to get me into the Pdoc asap. I'll let her know I'm on the verge of going IP. I truly just don't want to miss either appt since they both were a long wait.... Especially the counselor.
Now the question.....

I am currently on 200mg of seroquel. I like this medication. However, I need an anti depression and anxiety med.

What meds do you take and how do they work for you?

I'm looking for something that can give me energy, and also help with weight gain.

Any experience with medicine or a mix of such that helped you with the fatigue and depression?

I'd like to know what it is I'll be interested in asking about. He'll usually give what I ask for as long as it goes with my treatment.

I'd add Lamictal and Prozac to your Seroquel. Good anti-anxiety and depression combo!

The only drawback I can think of for my suggestion will be ramp up time. Lamictal titration is about 5 weeks, and for me Prozac really needs 6 weeks to reach full effect. I can elaborate as needed.

Prozac is the anti depressant right? I heard that it helps with anger outbursts as well. Is that true? Because that would defiantly help. Does Prozac make you sleepy?

Is Lamical the anti anxiety? Does it help with energy? When do you usually take either of them?

Thank you so much!

Prozac is the grandaddy of all the SSRI Anti-depressants. It also treats anxiety. Not sure about outbursts. It is known for being one of the more energizing ADs.

Lamictal is a popular mood stabilizer. I never really noticed the effects. I just started doing more healthy stuff and having more calm steady reasoning when I started. No blood work needed for Lamictal.

I take 30mg of Prozac w vitamin d in the morning. Lamictal and Latuda after dinner.

Thanks,

moogs

Would I need two mood stabilizers? Seroquel is the mood stabilizer I'm on now. Seems to work good for me aside from the morning tiredness.

Have you or anyone else tried valum or xanex? I heard they are really good for bad anxiety. I just don't want them if they will make me sleepy all the time. My in law recommended them.

I'm definitely going to ask about Prozac. It was on my list.

Seroquel is an Atypical Antipsychotic w some mood stabilizing properties.

Valium and Xanax are traditional, meaning old, anti-anxiety tranquilizers called Benzodiazepines. They will take away anxiety but can also be very sedating. They also have high abuse potential and dependency can develop over time. Personally, I will not take any benzodiazepines because of these risks. They are effective for many though.

Many SSRIs like Prozac are the go to standard for depression and anxiety. In most cases, your pdoc will likely add a full on mood stabilizer, like Lamictal, to reduce the mania risk.

I hope this helps. You are asking great questions!

xanex works fast and works good,,,but is very short lasting and very addicting...more of a pull me out of a hole drug than a every day one...it is addicting because it makes you feel so good...I had no sleepness with it,,,but I did get addicted.. I still use it to turn my brain off to sleep sometimes

I'd avoid xanax. It has a very short half life. I'd go for clonazepam.

Okay, so I'll avoid xanax. I do want something on hand that will help with a sudden onset. I'm looking to add three meds to my treatment.
I'll ask about Prozac for sure for depression and anxiety.
Still unsure about the other anxiety medication.
Then possibly valuim or clonazepam for the sudden trigger control.

I do have a slight problem. I was prescribed Norcos for my thumb. I've been using those to keep from feeling depressed because it helps.

I'm getting worried that I might have withdrawals. I'm going to stop taking them when I have the meds prescribed by the Pdoc.

I see my counselor tomorrow and plan on telling her that I'm relying on Norcos to help my mood. I really hope she will take this seriously and get me into the Pdoc as soon as possible!

I'm taking 4mg of xanax a day. Definitely alot, but I have severe anxiety and panic disorder in addition to BP. I take zoloft for my anti-depressant. I take lithium to attempt to keep the highs and lows from getting too intense. I also take ambien for sleep. No issues with being tired. I've taken these 4 meds for many years, so I have built a tolerance for xanax and ambien.

Is norcos like lortab? You probably want to get away from that pretty quickly. You may have to ween off it

Norco is a narcotic. It's a pain manager. I'm not in severe pain as I was, so I've been taking it because it reduces my depression. It's just not a depression medication and I'm abusing it at the moment. I'm taking it for other reasons than to deal with physical pain.

I actually think xanax is evil. I wish I'd never been put on it. I metabolize medicine very fast, so when I was on it I'd take one, and it would wear off an hour later, and I was/am dependent on benzos, so I'd have withdrawal in between doses. And it really does have abuse potential because it does feel really good. I will admit I was abusing it when I was on it. I think it's good though if you have a panic disorder.

Clonazepam on the other hand... ZERO desire to abuse it, and I can take one, lasts four hours (because I metabolize medicines very fast), and then take just one more before bed, and I'm totally fine. For me there's no high when I take it. I forget about it, until all of a sudden forty five minutes later I feel really calm.

And I'm on 300mg of seroquel (not sure how much you're on? Was it 200?), and that helps a lot with my anxiety.

I take lamictal as well. I take that at night, and it actually wakes me up a little bit. I think one of the side effects of it is insomnia? I can't remember. Not that I have insomnia issues.

Anyway, just don't do xanax. You will regret it. It is evil. And I was told clonazepam is better if you have generalized anxiety issues.

Hi Sunny!

I take both Valium and Xanax. There are a few differences. Xanax kicks in within 20 minutes, so fairly quickly. Valium takes 45 minutes to start working, so it may not be the best choice if you are looking for something to quickly put an end to a panic attack or such. Neither one has made me sleepy. They just make me feel calm.

I take Valium 10 mg in the morning and it definitely helps me get through the work day. And then if I get into a particularly stressful situation I will take a Xanax.

I haven't had a problem and I take them as prescribed. However, I have never tried to go off them, so I can't tell you about any withdrawal effects.

I also take Pristiq for depression. Sometimes it also helps with my anxiety. I haven't had any side effects or weight gain. The only thing that causes concern is that is has a very short half-life and if you don't take it, even just for one day, you will have horrible withdrawal effects. So I make sure that I never run out.

My pdoc also told me that if we decide I need to go off of it, all we would need to do is have me take 3 doses of Prozac. And that should take care of it.

I wish you the best in finding what works for you!!
