Anyone ever stop taking their mood stabilizer for a couple days and feel much better mood? I missed a dose yesterday and today and I feel somewhat happy, more motivated and focused. I'm sure it isn't mania.

Oh - I have not missed a dose of mine - It's pretty risky.

Technically, Latuda is an Atypical Anti-Psychotic and not a MS, even though it has some MS properties. Here is a good article about abruptly stopping an AAP and what might happen.

I do understand what you're saying.

For me, it varies when I do not take it. Usually I get depressed. Other times I get hypomanic.

What you describe sounds almost like hypomania to me. It isn't full blown and it won't cause you trouble right now. That being said, don't stay off them too long because there's a good chance it will become Mania or depression and you'll end up feeling worse.

Good point, but it feels good to be in a good mood. Usually I'm neutral but today I'm little giggity and smiling.

So what's the difference between hypo mania and bring happy or in a good mood. I am also feeling a bit short and irritable so thinking yes it is hypomania

Ah that classic debate. How can a bipolar person find happiness without the paranoia and anxiety associated with concerns over hypomania?!

For me, I just watch my sleep cycle, hygiene, and such. Tinkering with meds might not be a good sign.

Good luck.

I had that exact experience with Latuda I told my prescriber that I was done after I ran out over a weekend and could not get it till tuesday (pharmacy doesn't keep it stocked so it takes a day) that was over a week ago and I feel great I can exercise, my sleep is better, my eating habits have improved. Don't get me wrong it snapped me out a pretty brutal mixed episode and I am apprehensive about cycling again. I'm still on lithium so feel "protected" against mana, but I am very concerned about this coming winter and being on my own against the depression which can become mixed. Everybody is different so what worked for me may not work for you.

Think I should ask for something else besides latuda? It has been working well keeping me neutral. Moggie your thoughts too.

Regular good moods have been so rare for me for so many years now that the difference is sorta striking. I have my 'good' days but they usually involve me needing to talk nonstop, talk way too fast, about anything and everything, constantly needing to tell stories and usually uh, dressing them up a bit, so to speak. My mind will be racing and I'll have a bunch of ideas, but I'll have a hard time actually getting anything done. Everything will feel too fast and a bit of a blur. Like somehow I'll go from getting a mug of coffee to talking really loud and excited to some people and at some point, I don't know how long I've been talking or how they've been reacting, I feel lost, but I can't stop. I'll finally walk away feeling almost disoriented. Then I proceed to stay up until 4AM watching videos or gaming or listening to music even though I have to get up for work at 6AM but I don't really care.

I think a normal good mood is just going about things in a normal, steady way while feeling general pleasant and content throughout the day. It's like being.. comfortable?

No, the hypo, that may progress into mania or even mixed. Coming off meds cold turkey can throw people to rollercoster.

Do suggest you sit down with your Pdoc and discuss your meds and diganois. For instance a person is not bipolar I & bipolar II & Major Depression, they rule out each other. You can have any one of those and borderline though.

Actually, I've experienced the opposite on two occasions. When I missed my doses, I got angrier and more paranoid.
Thanks for this!

My original diagnosis was major depression. I then had a good streak and spent boatloads of money so psychologist suspected something and we went through my past took bunch of questionnaires then she rediagnosed me bipolar 1 borderline 2.
