Is there anyone out there who has bipolar 2 with a very slow cycle.
I am talking years not months. It would be great to compare notes. Thanks Fingers1 |

I'm bipolar II and slow to cycle, as the meds I'm on keep a cap on the mania but the depression is relentless. Finding stability is hard for me, because every time I start to feel better the depression sets back in and lasts for long periods of time. This time it's only been a few months but before I was hospitalized last year it had been a three year depressed state.
Anything else you want to know you are free to ask me.

Hi Gayle. I have been trying to find another Bipolar 2 sufferer who has a very slow cycle for a while now as I wish to compare notes and various ways of dealing with the symptoms of this disorder. Thanks for replying. Up until last may I had been in a semi low depression for the last nine years. Last may I went into hypomania for 5 weeks where my energy and depression just disappeared. This was probably triggered by the
spring sunshine as I also have a large element of Seasonal Affective Disorder. The weather here in the UK through this last winter has been very bright and although I have had a mild depression I have remained relatively well. I know that I am still mildly depressed as I have little energy and have to pace myself accordingly. Have you read my post (top tips for bipolar 2 sufferers ) After last mays hypomania I have tried to improve my symptoms by various means which I believe are working to a certain extent. I no longer have the sudden drop in mood which feels dreadful . This of course could be due to a number of the top tips. I am hopeful that my system is working but it could be just that my slow cycle has not come round again. I sleep for twelve hours a night (Dark Therapy) This is the best I have felt in years since 2004 when I was finally diagnosed and put on 5mg of Olanzapine a day. What are your symptoms ? And what other alternative treatments have you tried ? Thanks again for replying. Fingers 1 |

My cycle has been mainly depressed for three years up until last August when I was hospitalized and they changed all my meds. Then I went through a few months of feeling really good then in January the depression started back in. Then after a couple of months I went through a mixed state which they got under control with meds, but I still can't shake the depression.
Besides med management I've tried relaxation cds and apps. They help with the anxiety but now so much with the depression. I haven't tried many more techniques. If you have anymore questions why don't you pm me since I might miss the post. I think I read your previous post but can't remember it now. My memory isn't that great. ![]()
