It sucks. It's all too much. I cried all during t session and can't quit ugly crying.

I feel awful and afraid and aggravated and sad. I just want
To hide in my bed away from the world.

Well I'm glad you're not in danger. But you mention bankruptcy so is your issues based around finances right now? If so, I'm going through the same stress right now. Why can't they make a med for money issues? Lol. Unfortunately I won't see any relief until I get approved for SSD or my bf gets a better job Today sucks. In my opinion, I think crying it out in therapy is a healthy thing. Allow yourself to feel those emotions so you can tackle them. Hope you feel better soon! ((Hugs))

So sorry for your pain. I felt like a heel before I filed for bankruptcy. But it is an option--our society recognizes that many need financial relief and a fresh start.

Sorry about your pain. Sometimes bankruptcy is not necessary.
If you owe less than 25k, try a credit couseling service.
They (or you) can negociate to lower the debts.

Hallie...you're not alone I'm facing the same thing. Been working on getting it all together. I look at it as being similar to pushing a reset button for my finances. Its not quite that way but it's the closest thing I'll get and I'll NEVER be able to pay my debt so it is a necessary thing for me. It was hard to come to terms with at first(took me years from the first time my parents mentioned it). When I get everything together I'll file too. It sucks...
Thanks for this!

Is Medicaid available for you? I know when you first get it, they cover past bills for like three months I think. And when I was in IP, a worker came to meet me to set up immediate Medicaid to cover the stay. And one time I was hospitalized because of my ex and there was a program available that covered it because my injuries were from the hands of another person. I think outstanding medical bills are quite a problem for many people. I "heard" that it's often overlooked when it comes to credit but still, it's still debt at the end of the day. I would talk to my insurance co if I were you and research programs like I got.

As many others have said, I feel your pain. I've been in a ton of debt too. Hypomania caused me to run up 8 credit cards and over $20K in unsecured debt in about seven years or so. I saw no way out, I was up to my eyeballs in debt. The little salary I made, including working a second job, wasn't cutting it. I filed for bankruptcy.
I know many say it's bad, but for me it was like a restart button. The pressure was gone, and I became much better at managing my money since I only use cash now. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it. And it's not the end of the world. I was able to get a new car like three years later (the car I had was still good and didn't need another one) and buy a house four years later. Just maintain what credit that wasn't removed (i.e. student loans, car), or start small with an unsecured card if you really need to build back up your credit (I'm talking like $200 small).

However, medical bills are another situation. Those you have no choice in the matter. When you need help, you need help. But that help can cost thousands of dollars. It's like you finally find relief and feel better, but then that bill comes in the mail a few weeks later and it's like FML! And the stress begins again...

I really didn't intend to ramble on for this long. The point I'm trying to get at is that there are options. Some hospitals have some type of financial counselor that can help you with payment options or a reduction in the bill, I'm not sure what it is, my sister has had something to help with medical bills too. Either way I hope you're able to figure it all out. Pm me if you need to vent about it.

Please take care.

I called and they have no assistance programs. And they want at least $50 a month OR if I pay a lump sum them give me a 15% discount.

Currently I do have three medical bills to take care of. Honestly, if you send them some money every month, it's ok. That's what I've done in the past, they're just happy to get some money instead of going through the collections process. And I rarely called them about it. I would get the bill and be like, well these people are only $20 a month from me! And they would keep sending me bills with the lower balance (It probably depends on the company too, now that I think about it). I'm not sure how much yours are, but with what I have now to pay, (about $1600) each one of three is getting $20-30 a month until I can readjust my budget somehow. And if I can send more, I'll send more.
I'm assuming your hospital bills are more than mine.
Honey, I know it's stressful, but at the end of the day, it was a successful visit from what I remember. Outside of the bills, are you still feeling ok?

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have a question that may help OP too... Is it true that when you file bankruptcy they garnish your wages to pay everything back? I've always thought that bankruptcy wiped all your debt clean without having to pay it all that minute but recently someone told me that isn't true? I ask because I've considered this route before too but at the moment I have no wages to garnish lol.

I had a really bad day of just crying and stressing and catastrophizing. I'm ok though. Just want a good nights sleep. Earlier? I wanted disappear and just not be here anymore. I feel guilty for having gone
Ip and creating this debt for myself. I cried to my t about it and she told me I needed the help so not to feel guilty but I do :,(

There are two types of individual bankruptcy: chapter 7 and chapter 13. 7 they just wipe it clean, 13 u pay a portion over 3-5 years. An attorney can help you figure which you qualify for.

Have you checked into disability Medicaid? I have medicare too but if I spend a certain amount out of pocket then anything beyond that amount is covered my Medicaid. This restarts every month but really helps when I've been IP or something.

I'm sorry today sucked for you. I woke up not wanting to get out of bed. I sent a message to my t and she worked me in for today. Today was the second time I needed to see her. I have another appointment on Tuesday. My insurance does not cover my therapist so I'm paying cash. She always says not to let the lack of money keep me from coming to see her. Easier said than done. I also had to call my doctor today. This is the second time in the last two weeks. He charges $30 for a 5 minute phone call. I try my best not to go over 5 minutes when I have to call him. It all adds up so quickly. I have not had to go inpatient thankfully, but I do know what it is like to get a bill from a hospital stay that is several thousands of dollars. My heart goes out to you. Some days are worth staying in the bed. The good thing is that you have tomorrow to start over. I like the plan of just sending something. Who cares if you never pay if off? You got the help that you needed. I'm happy for that. Hang in there. (((hugs)))

Lots of medical debt here too. You're not alone! And I have no idea how we're going to pay any of it. We have a bunch in collections from last year IP (that was about $8000 total), and so far this IP is pushing $12000 and we haven't even gotten all the bills associated with it yet.

I don't know. It makes me so overwhelmed. I just geek out about it. Lol!

Hugs.

Depends on if you file a Chapter 7 or a Chapter 13. I filed a Chapter 7 which wipes it all clear so you don't have to repay, but leaves that mark on your credit for about ten years I believe. The Chapter 13 you still have to repay. It basically restructures your debt for repayment on agreed amount established in the court. The garnishing your wages part, I can't confirm. It comes down to amount, at least in my situation. My debt was too high and too much for me to live and would take forever to pay off. Pm me for any questions
