Stupid pills

Some of my pills are a pain in the *** to cut. Every time I cut them in half, they break apart into a million pieces! Now my kitchen table looks like I was snorting cocaine! I might as well roll up some dollar bills, put up a disco light, blare some music, hire a p!mp, and throw money around for added effect.

Lamictal is one of those pills that turns into cocaine.

BUT, I found an easy solution. I just bit the damn pill! Yes, I bit off the piece that I needed and spat the other part out in my prescription bottle. Take that, Lamictal!

Caveat: It didn't taste very good

Has anyone done this? I was surprised with how well it worked. I'm going to start biting my pills from now on. *chomp chomp chomp*

It sometimes happens. But with my pill cutter, the faster I slam it down, the cleaner the cut.

Yeah, makes sense. To be fair, I was using a knife this time... but my pill cutter still doesn't work all that great. It's probably cos I paid $1 for it. lol

My teeth are pretty good with making clean cuts, though. I have shark teeth

I get the 200mg shield lamictals and they cut fine for me when I was having to cut them.

I always just break them in half.

A knife never really worked for me. I eventually had to invest in a pill cutter. But it has come in handy when I was titrating the Lamictal doses earlier this year. And just in general, you never know with these cocktails what will change over the years.
I would slam that knife down too! It can be a violent experience when I have to cut pills in half!

I was going to say that a more expensive pill cutter can work better. I found out the hard way. I have one I paid more for years ago that I've been able to cut a tablet into 16/ths before.

Kitchen shears also can work sometimes when it's really hard.

IDK. Breaking pills with your bare hands is too intense for me... I've tried and I can't do it.

Yeah see... when I slammed the knife down is when my Lamcital turned into cocaine. Maybe I'm not going hard and fast enough... (no dirty thoughts pls) It's either that, or y'all have some serious muscles that I am obviously lacking

Moral of the story: I should invest in a quality pill cutter.

I swear to god... and this is no joke... I got my pill cutter from a gas station.

But, it kind of makes sense. Well, actually... I take that back. it makes at lot of sense....

If you're going to snort the Ritalin you just bought off some bum behind the gas station, you might want to cut it in half to save the rest for later.

I have the same experience as Gina.....the faster I slam it the better. I cut ambien in half the pill is far too small to bite in half and knives seem to crush them or slide off.

That's the only way for me! But...of course you can't use a cutter or your teeth properly on a capsule!

What generic lamictal do you have? I have the round white ones and they cut fine.

My lamotrigine is diamond shaped with a line in the middle that makes for easy cutting or breaking.

they never cut nicely for me

now i just chew them, even though they're not listed as chewable... it just sucks that they taste like @ss... but they still taste better than tylenol tablets.

When I took lamotrigine, the pills I had were very easy to break in half with my hands. Both generic brands I had.

But I feel your frustration. I've tried to use my pill cutter in the past. One half always came out ok, and the other half would be in a million pieces. So now I just went back to using a knife if I can't use my hands.
