Sorry to keep skipping questions but another sad part on New Years it is my bday and also when I tried to kill my self 3 years ago. My birthday usually sucks.

What's the most you've ever spent for meds? Once I had to get two brand name meds before I'd met my deductible, and a 30-day supply was $1,600.
Jeez. My highest copay is 10 bucks lol

My ideal job is working with people who have disabilities (emotional, physical, mental or learning). I use to work with men who all had Autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. Loved my job but it was hard and stressful and lead to my illness becoming difficult to manage. I was diagnosed with Bipolar while working there (3 years).

Question: How many meds do you take for your bipolar disorder?

5 plus I have 2 PRNs I rarely use.

Do you have someone you can ask if what you are feeling is normal or bipolar affecting your thoughts?

Honestly no. I mean I'm too embarrassed to do it. There are ppl I could ask but I'm ashamed to do so

Does your pdoc over react to every tiny change?

No. She stays pretty calm no matter what. I rely on that. My therapist gets more excited about things being bad than she does. Together it works.

Have you ever used melatonin? I"m supposed to try it, have a bottle of it a few inches away and somehow am scared of it.

I've used melatonin, and it's pretty mild. No real need to be scared of it.

What's the worst side effect you've experienced from a med?

Serious weakness from lithium.

Do you have a cat, and does it help you feel better when down.

I usually deflect compliments, I am not worthy.

those of you who are married, does your spouse support or despise you MI? Mine despises it in fact she is leaving me over it.

I'm sorry to hear that.

My spouse is a registered counselor. For years, she thought I just had anxiety, bpd and ADHD. Now bipolar has been diagnosed and she is supportive as long as I don't mess with my meds ("forget" to take them, or change dosages without drs orders.) However I am naturally an anxious temperament so sometimes that can cause issues.

Do you think bipolar runs in your family or are you the only one?

I have it rampant on both sides of my family, sister, cousin, uncle etc....

Do you ever have short bursts of mania(not hypo, I know the difference) that don't lead into an episode? If so do you enjoy them?

what is the 1 thing you would tell someone who had just been diagnosed BP (advice?)

Find the best pdoc you can find and build a strong relationship.

Have you ever had a relationship with a therapist that went on after termination (not sexual)?

I have been through several very traumatic life events during 2016 and have reacted very appropriately to each.

What is the most difficult thing you are dealing with at this moment in your life?

kidney stones.

Do you have a very high pain tolerance (I believe and my dentist agrees that this can come from APs)?
