So my pdoc says he has noticed in the past some slight hypomania a few times but nothing like what I am experiencing now. For the last few weeks I have been bouncing off the walls and cleaning everything in sight. I also am barely sleeping and noticed that I am talking more and faster. My pdoc just switched me from Seroquel to Saphris hoping that would help with the weight gain I was having and with the hypomania. So far my appetite has decreased and I have lost 3 pound in 6 days. I am really excited to lose more but I know it isn't guaranteed. But the Saphris isn't helping any with the sleep. I am still just getting 3-5 hours a night. Some nights even less. My group T thinks it could be the antidepressant that I am on causing the hypomania but there is no way I am switching that med because I went through hell and 4 hospital trips and 2 rounds of ECT to find something that worked for my depression.
So I guess what I want to know is what should I expect or look out for once the hypomania starts to fade? I have heard it can knock you into a bad depression. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Typically you will start needing more sleep, your energy and motivation decreases, and your mood may plummet. Thinking of you, take care.

I would go back to my pdoc if I were getting that little sleep and still having hypo symptoms.
It may be that you don't need as much antidepressant now. Your pdoc may be able to lower the dosage and then your hypo might be lessened. Just a thought. Bipolar is like a pendulum, swinging from one drastic mood to the other. With proper medication, the swinging becomes less drastic, hopefully. Some people say their hypomania turns into mixed states (mine does often). Mixed states includes agitation and anxiety for me as well as some mild depression. I'm a rapid cycler, so you may be different. Mine cycles pretty rapidly from one mood to the next, and I thankfully don't have a big "crash" into depression. I also have times of feeling stable/ "normal." I wish I could feel that way all of the time!!

Well I fell asleep last night around 11:30 and was up at 3:30 this morning. Around 4:30 I decided to go through the shoes in my closet to get rid of some.
I see my pdoc again July 15. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You can't expect depression or you might psych yourself into one... I've been hypomanic and then just gone through it to a regular mood. |

No haven't done anything bad yet. Mostly just cleaning and organizing things and being more interactive with my kids.

Thanks for asking. The last two nights I took some Xanax to see if it would help with sleep and I think it gave me an extra hour or two so that is at least a little improvement. I am still on a cleaning frenzy which my wife kind of likes
