Lately I've been having trouble with fixating on only a couple particular issues in my life right now. If I let my mind wander off too long it really wrecks me mentally and emotionally. I know I shouldn't, but I just get so focused on these things (that I don't want to discuss right now), and I obsess over them, thinking about them for hours on end, constantly bringing it up in conversation. I know the truth of the situations, but I feel like my own thoughts and feelings override that logic at times.
Does anyone else struggle with this? Is this common? What ways have you found to prevent those obsessive thoughts from taking over your life? |

Hi, welcome to PC Bipolar Forum! I hope you can find some support and answers here.
You may want to also post this in the OCD forum. I have OCD as well as bipolar and I've found that the things that have helped me with obsessive thoughts the most are antipsychotics for depression (Latuda and Abilify) and the supplement NAC. I take 3,000 mg of NAC daily, per my psychiatrist's orders. If you have obsessive thoughts, the best thing is not to feed them by talking about them or doing anything compulsive to try to make them go away. It's best to get distracted with something else and try to ignore them. A good therapist can help you with this. Best wishes! I hope you can get the help you need with them. ![]()

Hi Tony. I stopped judging my thoughts, and just let them come in, then i gently let them out. They are junk thoughts. I give them no importance. Also just like musiclover i also take an antipsychotic Geodon, and Saphris. These seemed to have helped to stop the anxiety and obsessing to a large degree.
