Just wondering if I'm the only one. My pdoc reads note and knows everything going on with me without having to ask questions.

My T is a different story. She says she'd prefer if I talk to her. I can't do it though. I'm just way too nervous and everything would come out of my mouth wrong. Plus writing a note guarantees that every topic I write down will be discussed. She does most of the talking though. I mainly nod my head and give one word answers.

I'm not seeing a T now. But when I was... throughout the week I would make notes on my iPhone "notes" app. Then in our session I would go over the few things I jotted down. But I'm a talker. I like sessions to be like having a conversation

I make notes as things happen or I think of things. The night before I see T, I organize my notes, and any other info in a pdf and print it for T. My last T didn't like it, but my new T really appreciates having the info in front of him, and being able to keep the notes for reference.

I like this idea. I don't do it, but maybe if I did, the session would last a little longer than 5-10 minutes. I'm just not sure the types of things to share with a T, so it doesn't go very far.

I always write notes for my appointments with my Pdoc. If I don't I forget things. I also keep a journal of how I'm doing and take it to appointments. I used to be really good about writing in it every day but now I usually write in it once a week and kind of summarize how my week went. It helps me keep my theoughts organized when it's time to go to the clinic.

Not yet, but I did take a couple of screenshots world posts I wrote on here to show my psychiatrist to see if I really was in psychosis in late 2012 and 2013, and see what she thinks, cause I'm just now starting to process it all, and become stable from it.

If I were a therapist I would much rather my client talked to me. Writing is okay once in a while or for notes to yourself to make sure you cover everything you want to. But actual talking communicates in a way that writing just can't. Intonation, emphasis, posture, body movements including frowning, smiling, wincing, looking down at the floor... Maybe it's better than nothing, but I don't think you're getting full value from your sessions that way.
Thanks for this!

I do when I see a new pdoc for the first time. My current pdoc found the notes to be very helpful and had her secretary photocopy them for my file. It helped me to attempt to put my experiences into words. When I go to pdocs, I have a tendency to lose my train of thought, so bringing the notes helps me. Also, it makes it easier for the pdoc to be able to help me by having more information to go by.

I take notes on my iPhone and have brought in lists before. I forget too much otherwise.

Oh absolutely same for me. I keep a history of my disorder with the triggers and med changes on my computer. It would take a year to do the same w just talking. My train of thought gets off too trying to tell everything. God, we have brilliant ideas!
