Rapid cycling can be very confusing. Not knowing how you are going to be each day. Hang in there until it levels out.

Is this rapid cycling?? I thought it was day to day not hours to hours. Feeling neutral now.

It's possible. Ultradian or ultra-rapid cycling.

You're taking klonopin as needed, right? That could be part of your problem as it has depression and suicide ideation as side-effects.

I was put on klonopin several months after being diagnosed with bipolar 2, and my depression became utterly overwhelming. I spent the day on the couch trying to sleep away how miserable I was. I got to where I'd be okay and then waves of despair would engulf me like a storm moving in. This was my life for 13 years until I went off meds, and was amazed at how much better I felt.

A year after I got off meds I decided to go back on klonopin as I have this crazy sleep disorder called sleep starts where I flop and twitch as I'm dosing off. It was so out of control that klonopin was the only thing that stopped it. Within 3 days of going back on klonopin, I was sobbing uncontrollably for no reason, and giving very serious thought to how I could kill myself. Nothing was any more wrong in my life than the previous week other than the introduction of klonopin. Fortunately I remembered my sister had been told by a neurologist that psych meds cause anxiety so I decided to google klonopin and see if suicide ideation was a side-effect. Sure enough, there it was in black and white! I went off it, and within 3 more days, I was fine. Now I'm now saying you're thinking of killing yourself, I'm telling you this to show you how meds can affect your mood.

My sister takes klonopin, and it seems likes when she does, a day later she's depressed. She refuses to believe the klonopin makes her depressed, but I can see it based on my experience.

Look at your meds....

Sure sounds like you are rapid cycling.
It is an issue for me sometimes as well and what I hear you saying
sounds very familiar to me.

I'll keep that in mind. I don't remember my last klonopin dose. Probably sometime last week. I think I was manic and depressed at the same time. I was tearing at some point yesterday and also thinking of what to lift and how great I would feel if I did.

Could be your AD

My Lexapro made me cycle very rapidly. I cut that sh#t out because it was making me nuts.

And if I'm not mistaken, Pristiq is new for you. Coincidence or no?

I agree with another poster...be careful with Klonopin. Any benzodiazepine can cause or worsen depression over the long haul, but Klonopin is particularly horrible. I remember when I was on 2-3mgs Klonopin per day in my late teens. At a certain point, I'd wake up with anxiety and the worst sort of soul crushing sadness imaginable. So, what'd I do? Reach for my morning Klonopin. Turns out...

...that happens, with any benzodiazepine over the long haul ("inter-dose anxiety"), plus Klonopin will dampen your mood like no other sedative.

1mgs PRN isn't a whole lot. Just sayin' be cautious, if you can. Antidepressants are weird...they often cause mood instability in people who are susceptible, but some doctors will use high dose SSRI drugs for "mood lability." I don't know what that's about. My own limited experience is that high dose SSRIs will flatten anybody out, so I guess that's what's going on.

Have you ever tried a daily anti-epileptic as a mood stabilizer? I think lamictal is popular for people who have had multiple episodes of depression. I take a lowish dose (100mgs) with another anti-epileptic, trileptal. Anti-epileptics can also help anxiety and agitation, at least over the long haul.

Hope you and your prescriber can fine tune things appropriately.

Not yet. But she said the 2 I am on. Increased the risk of seizures. Knock on wood haven't had any. I really hope pristiq works. It's really frustrating going from med to med and dosage to dosage even.
As per the klonopin I've been working hard to avoid it. Last time I think I took it was last Monday. For a while I was taking it everyday (July or August maybe). I've tried breathing and meditation technique and only take it if it's too severe or I feel panic attack coming on.

I'm not trying to be judgmental, btw. there --are-- plenty of people who take benzodiazepines for a long time and don't have major problems. There are plenty of people who take benzodiazepines, do a gradual taper, and don't have major problems. Its just that these drugs can also cause problems for a lot of people, and doctors (not just the psychiatrists) tend to blame the problems that brought the patient in for treatment (or the patient himself/herself).

I'm also not trying to tell you what drugs to take, lol. Just throwing some ideas out there for you. I hope things work out for you.

Maybe you need to get off everything, detox that shyyt out and start over.

Sorry Bipolar is kicking you so hard ❤️

So Lay down , no phone or laptop tv etc . Just tell yourself you are just going to be horizontal for X hours . I do this all the time ,sometimes I literally fall asleep from boredom.

Sometimes just thinking ok if I sleep I sleep if I don't I don't can help....Kinda takes the pressure off the OMG I have to sleep thoughts.
