I work in Healthcare. My rotations are 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm. Occasionally I take doubles, usually 3pm-7am... crazy? Well I used to do them all the time
I enjoyed being paid 4k or more a month.

I haven't done them regularly for months, as my dr suggests against them and they seem to make my cycles worse (surprise surprise) and all around ****** from hell comes out. I don't enjoy ***** from hell. I really don't. I get impulsive and down right angry full of rage.

But my partner is trying to encourage me to work two do one to two doubles a pay period. I miss the money... I do. But .... I'm terrified of myself.

Most people are scared of spiders, but
I'm scared of myself. Especially when I don't have any PRNS and can't control my tornado of modds etc.

I've tried explaining this to my spouse but we're still trying to catch up on bills from when I was unwell.

Thoughts?

If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you do? I used to work as a CNA and had to stop a few years ago because it was getting to be too stressful.

Gotcha. I know how stressful it can be. I used to work with mostly Alzheimer's and dementia patients. I still work in healthcare, but now I work in the medical records department.

I work in healthcare too (I'm an RN), & have very similar rotating shifts to you. No matter how good the money is it isn't worth getting sick over. Shift work sent me batty eventually, I also became an angry, obsessive & impulsive ***** who was unable to function without prns & MJ. Now I'm working mainly am shifts I'm in a much better place mentally & stopped smoking.

Shift work can wreck havoc on our cycadian rhythm which can trigger BP. Double shifts will certainly mess with you. However, we all react differently. You may be fine getting through the odd Double Shift but be watchful for symptoms. You don't want to have a breakdown/episode and have to stop work altogether.

how are you handling the shifts/double shifts? If you are ok then the odd double would be fine just be careful. Money is not worth your health.

Agreed. It has been a long time since I have been afraid of myself, but I would still never willingly return to anything that could trigger another episode of whatever.
