I wonder why sometimes I can easily shower 2 or 3 times a day.
Then sometimes only once every 2 or 3 days?

Maybe it's the noise. The lack of control. The pressure. Or the idea that it won't help, that it creates expectations or is useless and undeserved.

Good observations.
I do feel like lost and no matter what, nothing will help.
Today I shower. Raining and cool right now. Maybe after some hot coffee. Thanks

Great question!

For me, it takes a lot of energy when I am depressed or in a lot of pain.
I still shower once a day, yet sometimes have to push hard.

As I exercise more, showering seems to take less energy and is easier.

Hi Ocean. Weicome back!!.

I go and turn on the shower, get my hands wet graduating the temperature. Push the arms a little bit in the stream. Which wets more of me. After I'm half wet, I'll take the shower.
Also, no matter how depressed I am, the other party forces a shower at least every three day. And changes the sheets more ofter, so I hafta shower.

My lack of hygiene these days has caused problems in the reationship. GF rightfully thinks it's gross...So I sleep on the recliner downstairs & have to wash my own clothes. I shower about once a week, which isn't enough. I know it's a symptom of depression, but it's just a behavior. It's up to me to change this behavior, but there's something anxiety-provoking about it. Hard to understand.

My shower room has no window. If an attacker comes in while I'm showering I'm a sitting duck. If a fire breaks out I'm screwed. For awhile now my husband either showers with me or sits in the room while I shower. I feel guilty asking him to sit in there (he doesn't mind when I ask him to join me or wait). Sometimes I have zero motivation and sometimes I'm too sick to support myself upright in the shower. Sometimes I don't shower because I feel I'm wasting resources for people who need them more than I. It's lots of stuff which can keep me away from a shower.

I don't have the problem with not showering even when depressed O_o Instead I shower 1-4x a day. Yeah I have issues, and idk why I do this. Meds helps a bit with the excessive showering though.

I shower daily even though I hate it. I treat it like a chore. I know I would become even more depressed if I "let myself go" and didn't keep up with hygiene. I can't stand feeling unclean. I shower as soon as I get home from work to get it over with. On weekends I shower first thing in the morning. I do like the feeling of the hot water in the winter though. It can be quite relaxing.

I made a law for myself .... I shower every day regardless of how I feel .

I don't always wash my hair .

But literally you drop your clothes off, hop In the shower scrub with some yummy smelling stuff ,5 mins later your drying off and putting on clothes. 10 mins from start

That's just the deal I made with myself .

Struggling to shower lately. About twice a week when i wash my manky hair and can't let it go any longer without looking like a homeless person. I have oily hair unfortunately. Don't sweat so seem to get away with it smell wise. Funny thing is I'm not really depressed, just kinda PTSD with hypomania. really makes no sense.

Ok. I showered.
Sometimes when I promise I'll do it then I do.
I'm usually defeatist and wake up thinking no way can I accomplish that today.

I have my husband hang out in the bathroom while I shower. I have PTSD from an event in my childhood, so I need to feel protected while I shower. I'm hoping to get past this, as I have worked through other PTSD issues iin my life.

Yeah I've been afraid in the shower.
We built an outdoor shower for when I get like that.

That's great! I'd do that in summer. The dry air here makes me not want a shower every day in the cold months. It dries my skin out.

I absolutely hate showers to be honest
A few reasons for this, some trauma related, some physical medical issues

And of course depression ...

There was a great thread on here a few years ago titled "why don't WE want to shower" or something along those lines. Detailed all the reasons it is so difficult to shower. I myself only shower at most every other day. Sometimes I enjoy a shower but most times it is like work. Sometimes I just wash my hair and don't shower but since I've gained so much weight that is more of a pain in my ***. When I am depressed I'm lucky if i shower once a week. But I have very dry skin and low body odor so not showering is not a detriment to mex

I have to drag my sorry *** into the shower. every 4-5 days, so that is 6-8 showers a month. once I make myself get in there I love it. but run out of hot water so that sucks.
no wonder my gas bill is so low.
hubby showers every 2-3 days.
