Hi this is my 1st post. I'm bipolar & it has slowly consumed my life. The older I get the worse it gets. I'm at a point were I'm afraid to make decisions. I have made so many bad ones. I have dug a big enough hole I can't climb out. I'm afraid to tell my family & friends I don't want to be a burden to them. I can't seem to find a place to live I can afford. I can't keep moving I'm tired of climbing that ladder just to fall back in. I can't climb anymore don't know we're to go from here. Im 56 years old & tire of fighting.

Hello brokenwing: I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. Hopefully coming here to PC can be of some comfort & support. Since this is your first post here on PC... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!

i am so sorry you are not comfortable enough to share your struggles with family and friends. Their support could make a huge difference for you. Consider renting a room or possibly a group home to save on money perhaps? I really don't know and I'm sorry you are struggling so much.

Have you signed up for the waiting list for section 8? They pay part of your rent.

I have been online. I need help with all that stuff sometimes my brain just doesn't work. I can't keep things straight forget details. Don't know if it's the bipolar or from my aneurysm stroke. There are times when I do pretty good. But not in good place now. Having problems with learning this site short term memory is not so great
Thanks for the info!

My case manager helped me apply. One thing I learned is if you don't get on the waiting list you'll definitely never qualify.

I relate to your stress, please don't give up. I like Elsa's ideas on housing. I've never had a case manager and don't know how to get one - but that sounds good. Do you have a therapist that can help you find services as to these types of things.

I'd get on the housing waiting list.

It's hard to ask for help, but you're not a bad person for needing it. Reach out to those that can and will help you. I've found local bipolar support groups helpful. Take care.

Hi everyone I just want to say thank you for all the kind words & help. It really helped getting that all out. I've kept it all to my self for a very long time. I've been sick & really depressed. I was in a very deep & dark hole I thought I was never getting out. My oldest daughter called me today & wants to help me out with my living worries. Depression make thing so much worse but I have pulled out of it maybe to high can't shut my brain off not sleeping. But it's a lot better then that dark hole I was in. I don't feel like my meds are helping a hole lot but I know I'm better off on them. But on that roller coaster heading up hopefully for a while. I still need to get out with friends it's been a long time. Hopefully Saturday night. I think I will like it hear & I hope I can give some helpful words to someone in need.
