I might as well start off by saying Ive been a little loony since last week.
Been suffering with insomnia then I seen my pdoc and I was a little angry with him....told me Im still....after 4 f*#@n
months..... Im still not at a theraputic level with my lithium.So now Im up to 1200mgs a day.
He told me 5mgs of of ativan would knock someone to his feet...I dout it cause it had almost no effect on me and not on my anxiety....he can have it!
So he also writes a script for seroquel,for the sleep troubles...says its good for anxiety.
THEN......
Then its the usual lecture about drinking and "smoking"
WELL Im sorry but Im just a bad bad girl....GRRRRRR
Any ways Im sleeping great on the seroquel but Im in high gear and I want to drink so fartin bad.

instead of ativan try klonopin. i take it and have had great success with anxiety and it helps with sleep. just a thought.-onyx

I am sorry to hear about the insomnia. my pdoc gave me 50mg of seroquel and klonipin. I was then switched to seroquel and ativan. 1 1mg of the ativan did not work so he upped it to 2mg at bedtime and it normally takes about 45 min to work. I was\also on 1500mg of lithium for a few months or so and then weaned down to 900mg. things seem better now then they were before, not 100% yet but there is hope,,,hang in there

LITHIUM SUCKS, ASK FOR TOPAMAX IT WORKS AS A MOOD STABILIZER AND FOR RACING THOUGHTS AND U DON'T GET TOXIC OR HAVE TO GET UR BLOOD LEVELS CHECKED. AS FOR ATIVAN IS IS VERY SHORT ACTING, MY PDOC AND ANY OTHER PDOC WILL TELL U KLONOPIN IS BETTER BECAUSE IT IS LONGER ACTING. I TAKE ADDERRAL 20MG TID, GEODON 80MG AT NIGHT, WORKS BETTER THAN SEROQEUL AND U DON'T GET THE SEROQEUL BELLY, TOPAMAX 400MG BID, KLONOPIN 2MG BID, AND REMERON 45MG AT NIGHT AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT THAT'S GIVEN FOR SLEEP WORKS VERY WELL. ASK HIM ABOUT IT.

Wow, topomax, havenl't heard that name in awhile. There is a very rare side effect to that one, less than 2% of people on it get it... and I was one of them. Calcium Oxylate kidney stones. So bad in my case I required surgery. One lodged in my uretur and nearly caused my kidney to rupture - took emergency surgery to save my kidney, possibly my life. Like I said, it is a rare side effect, but just a reminder to everyone, make sure you read up on all possible side effects before taking anything. If you are on one that can cause these kinds of stones, get your blood tested for oxylate levels regularily.
