Stupid me couldn't hold my tongue anymore and talked/argued politics with my mother and mother in law this weekend. Now normally being around them is a trigger enough on its own. I always try to stay away from politics and religion but I just lost it. The ignorance was too much. I really wish I didn't have to see them as much as we do.

I feel you. Not good for my mental health either. Fortunately I only have to see my headache at birthdays and holidays. Hugs coming your way.

I can relate this too, completely. It triggers me. Sometimes family will come over, and I immediately dread it. There are some people I don't mind being around, but when one starts, the others tend to go along with the ignorance they are spreading. They do this when it comes to certain groups too from time to time, or tell derogatory jokes, which I HATE. It makes me ashamed of family at times. I really don't understand how they are so negative when they don't know what they are talking about. Then, they pretend they don't do this. Also, some act like they are all that. ....I just can't.

Edit: My mom just whispered to me not to tell my family that I am on any meds, if they bring up healthcare. Wtf.

My mother today said she knows better than me because she has lived longer. She also actually used the term "fake news" and I almost lost it.
