keep on keeping on my friend.
You have a med in place and hopefully it is working for you Many ppl with bipolar have psychosis yes. It can be truly frightening and this is a good place to talk about it with others who understand. Try to keep the stress at bay and give yourself time to heal. Your wounds are still fresh. Seeking out support groups help many ppl as well. keep posting here. It is a great community ![]()

Long live the king! One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand |

Give yourself time to heal. What you've been through is very traumatizing, it was for me anyway. Like Jacky said a group or a therapist would be a really goid idea. Sending big hugs!!

Welcome DarlaJean.
![]() The parts you have mentioned sound very traumatizing, as pointed out by hopeless in a post above. Jacky made some great points, too. I haven't much to add, except: Please give yourself time to adjust and recover. If you'd like to read here, there's lots of info. There were recently threads about people adjusting to their diagnoses and more. These threads may be a few pages in now. We have some upbeat threads which give us a place to share some of the constructive things we are doing, no matter how small they seem. I hope you find info, support and friendship here. ![]() ![]() ![]() WC |

And a hearty PC Welcome to DarlaJean from Marla Jean!
![]() Psychosis is frightening, especially the first time it happens. It's very common in bipolar 1 so believe me, you're not alone. It takes many shapes and forms, and it doesn't always stay the same. I've had hallucinations of cats running under the linen carts in the ER, and other times I've heard classical music that has never been composed. (I don't know how I know that.) I also get paranoid from time to time, thinking my neighbors are spying on me and wondering which of them intends to do me harm. Just make sure your pdoc and T are aware of what's going on with you, as there are many ways to get psychosis under control. It'll be OK, you can handle it, just get help before things go sideways if you can. (((HUGS)))

The weeks following an IP stay can be very disorienting and difficult. Be gentle on yourself, take your meds and see your treatment team as often as possible.
I had a psychotic break with mania late last year and it took over a month to feel almost 'normal' again. It can be a terrifying experience, as can be an attempt. Welcome to PC. Keep posting if it helps. People are very supportive here. I wish you all the best.

Take time to transition between being in the hospital and being home. I usually find it takes me a few weeks to adjust being in real life again (with all the pressures).
