I've been on extremely sedating medication the past few years and have tapered off, so now is probably a good time for me to improve my sleep hygiene. I want to come up with a routine for the two hours before bed so I avoid screens (phone, TV, computer) and eating despite not being truly hungry. Getting in my PJs and brushing my teeth takes about five minutes and that's really the only thing I've been doing. I also do about half an hour of reading.
What do you guys do to make sure you have a good night's sleep?

There's no escape from insomnia in my world. It's even harder now then before because of my sobriety. It's normal for me to skip a day here and there with just a few hours sleep. Doctors flagged me, so it's almost impossible to get narcotics.....legally. however, I've got plenty of pain killers...the addiction is strong.

Do you like to draw or journal? What about sodoku? I used to do sodoku before bed, but I lost my sodoku book and don't do it anymore

Do you live alone or with others? I make part of my nightly routine talking to my husband. When I had roomies I would chat with them after I was in my PJs. It was a nice wind down from the day.

I'm alone with my thoughts, a sometimes scary place at night. I take my meds and usually end up trying to focus in on how I'm feeling. This is the worst way to fall asleep. I do have to deal with my emotions more this route, which is good or bad, but doesn't always let me sleep well.
Having a solid 5 hours of workout time split into two sessions today should help me go right out. The exhaustion from therapy should help. We'll see.
