I can't take it, I have to wait one whole month to see my new Pdoc.

I've just come back from a medical centre to get hooked up on Zoloft.

I'm supposed to take it in the morning, but being in this mood, I thought the heck with it, I'm taking it now.

Hi 2ISAB, so sorry you're not well. I've been on the med a long time ago, but unfortunately, I am not much help as I can't remember my experience with it.

I feel your frustration, been there done that. That being saidd, please try to take it when required.

Wishing you brighter days ahead!

I was switched to Zoloft in the hospital in September. I had wicked stomach issues and felt sick for weeks. It took about 2-3 weeks before I felt the positive effects. It does make me tired (I'm on a high dose) and so I have to take a stimulant during the day. Otherwise it's been a life saver for me.

Zoloft did nothing for me except make it difficult to sleep. I ended up manic. I hope you have better results.

I was on Zoloft years ago and it helped my depression. I do remember having splitting headaches for the first 2 or 3 weeks. I took Advil for the headaches.

Antidepressants also make me manic, but lithium seems to prevent that.

I am on daw Zoloft since it seems I am sensitive to the minor differences in the various brands of generic. But it’s good and if you don’t love it in my experience it’s much easier to transition to a new Antidepressant than it is to start or stop one. Good luck!

I've been on Zoloft (250mg) for years now. It is rough on an empty stomach. It helped me for years, and saved my life/marriage/relationships when I first started on it. I never noticed any side-effects from it except when I first started and was not on a mood stabilizer. It bumped me up a little too high. Missing a dose or two could result in an odd and difficult to describe feeling; kind of like being zapped.

I have been having a really rough time lately and had a pdoc visit yesterday during which we decided to switch to Effexor. I'll see how Effexor treats me. Best of luck with it, and let me know if you have any questions I could help with.

I've only tried it on the lowest dose and for a few weeks to a month. In that time, I also added something for ADHD. I'm convinced it was the latter that threw me into mania (hypomania), but it could have been both.

Still, I loved Zoloft! It really helped my depression and if I was at any loss of appetite, it was mild. The med for ADHD gave me bothersome stomach aches though, which went away when I stopped it but not the Zoloft.

Sorry it's not so good for you. Maybe wait a few more days and see if it passes, but otherwise, probably try another AD.
oh yeah, and it might help to take in the morning if it keeps you awake at night. I took in the morning and always with food.

I used to take Zoloft many years ago, and it worked until it didn't (like most ADs I took).

Idiot IP pdoc tried to give it to me again after my mental meltdown, and all I did was sweat all the time and have headaches.

I found out later that I don't metabolize Zoloft well now.

I don't know if it was the Zoloft, but my heart was beating so much last night. I started overheating. I probably should get that checked out today. Thanks for all the comments, hope today's better.

Anti-depressants turn me manic. Though I was on Zoloft before I got the official BP diagnosis. I was taking it for post-partum depression (though I suppose it could have been bipolar, who knows?). I was nursing my daughter, and at the time, they felt it was safe to breastfeed on it (I think now they don't want you breastfeeding on any psych meds). But anyway, I don't remember that it did much for me. My pdoc switched me to Cymbalta; I did OK on that for awhile until I showed up for an appointment with severe mania.

My pdoc occasionally put me on ADs, but only short term. She pointed out that any time I'm on them longer than 3 months or so, mania results.

Zoloft gave me bad panic attacks and eventually led to a manic state.

Another person who turned mixed hypo/manic after taking only 12.5 mg of Zoloft. I was on two mood stabilisers at the time so no more AD's for me. I went bananas. Yelling and screaming at the nurses. Totally unlike me. I was unbelievable agitated.

This my experience though so you may be fine. Talk to your psychiatrist when you can. In the meantime keep taking it as prescribe and if you have a dangerous reaction go to ER.

I'm on 50mg and am feeling quite euphoric. I almost lost my temper with two grocery store clerks over a tub of olives. Not sure if I was driven by the medication...but I almost always enjoy my little trip to the shops never causing trouble.

Do you ever get euphoria from that mix?

I was recently on zoloft. It worked for awhile, but then it didn't. I was switched to cymbalta. I hope the zoloft works for you!

Been on it for about 15 years. It works really well for me. I only have major depression- no mania. If I take it at night, it does keep me awake. Best of luck to you!
