I'm learning more about cognitive dissonance lately because I can't get it to ****ing stop!
Example: I shipped an order at work that was 25,000 dollars. I know for a fact that it is going to the right place because I have checked it dozens of times. At the exact same time part of my brain is convinced that it is wrong and I'm going to get in big trouble. I'm obsessing over it and can't stop. I'm guessing it's related to my complex PTSD, part of which was losing a high paying job 3 months before my son was born and at the start of my bipolar symptoms. Sorry for the rambling, just wondering if anyone can relate and give any advice since my therapist is in china for who knows how long. Thanks.

It looks like your second guessing yourself because of you concern over that much money. I'd be concerned too! That's normal.
Are you having obsessive thoughts over it though? |

It's beyond obsessive. I've been checking the tracking numbers multiple times a day. I'm simultaneously convinced that it is both right and wrong.

And it's weird because I have shipped larger orders before without worry, and I'm also in a position where I know I have a job unless the company goes under so there is no logical reason for me to be so concerned. Yet, the obsessive thoughts ruined my weekend and are only now starting to ease up a bit.

Are these obsessive thoughts common with you in your life in general?

Not really, no. At most I obsess about a certain band or album for a while, or projects when I'm hypo, but generally I don't have obsessive tendencies.

Why do you think you're doing it this time?

I worked as an engineer and I had to recheck my calculations over and over again until I was blue in the face. And I ruminated about it after work. Ultimately, I realized it didn't fit my personality, I was having horrible MH issues and quit. I wish I knew how to get around this.

So you had obsessive thoughts about work before? Is this cyclical or constant?

Only once I've had this problem and it was while on wellbutrin which caused crazy paranoia. Oh well, it will go away eventually.
