I was also wondering if people have found Seroquel helpful?

I have found low-dose Seroquel helpful at times. BPII.
Are you considering Seroquel?

To answer your question: no.

If you want me to elaborate, I can do that. But otherwise, I'll leave it at that.

Thanks Wild Coyote. I’m considering Seroquel (low dose) (again). I find benzos less scary though

I’ve also read how Seroquel tends to become less effective over time?

Obviously I know not to necessarily believe everything I read, and how everyone is very individual in their response to meds etc

I was doing fine on Seroquel XR at a low dose, 150mg (I think?), when I started getting manic. My pdoc increased the dose to 250mg and I became extremely suicidal. It gave me literally the worst depression I've ever experienced. I thought my feelings of depression could be associated with me "crashing," but that didn't seem right... because I was fine for a few days (no mania; completely stable) and then all of a sudden I became depressed 4 days after increasing the dose. So I just plain asked my pdoc to go off the med because I felt that it made me depressed, and I also didn't like that it made me too sleepy. And sure enough, when I went off the med, the depression lifted within a day or so and I felt fine.

I didn't have any weight gain or anything like that (or maybe it was minimal? can't remember). It was just the severe depression that bothered me.

I feel very tired on Seroquel but sleep really well. I've gained weight because it makes me hungry and too tired to exercise. I get along with everyone better tho -- not so quick to anger. I feel a bit zombified tho. I'm going to ask for an anti-depressant. Hopefully that will clear things up.

Seroquel made me a zombie and made me gain a ton of weight. Prior to seroquel, I had never pulled the typical unruly psych/bipolar patient move and stopped taking my meds suddenly, but I did with Seroquel because I hated it so, so much. I have had a lot of success with Lamictal, which I started after I went off seroquel.
I should note, everyone has different experiences with every medication, though. It could always be worth a shot, but be wary of side effects.

Seroquel XR worked wonders for me BUT it made me too sleepy and I slept too well on it. COuldn't get up to go to work. So I had to come off. I think I was on 300mg.
