So I seen my Psychiatrist today and he's putting me on a new med that I'd never even heard of. Has anyone else tried or are currently taking Rexulti? He only prescribed it because I have drug coverage now. I was shocked how expensive it is normally. He's hoping if it goes well I'll be able to reduce my other meds (mainly Lithium and Seroquel). The only thing I read so far is that it causes weight gain which is exactly my problem with the other meds. I don't really see how it's going to improve things but I'll give it a go *shrug*

I've had little to no side effects with it.

Thanks for the replies It's reassuring to hear neither of you had side effects. I've been having such bad luck with side effects and having to tolerate them because there hasn't been a better alternative. Hopefully this will be just that!

I`m on Rexulti too. I`ve had no side effects either. I think I tolerate it really well. I hope it goes well for you.

No weight gain here and I’m on the max dose of 4mg.

I take it for depression and psychosis. Not sure if it helps with mania or not. My therapist says it isn’t approved for mania and I haven’t seen any clinical trials proving that it works for mania, but I haven’t had a manic episode since starting it, so who knows.

I have olanzapine that I take if I start to exhibit pre-manic symptoms like sleep disturbance. The Rexulti is an insurance policy against intrusive thoughts becoming delusions. My manias are always psychotic.

I was on it and it worked well for my paranoia and depression. Didn’t do anything for mania. I did not gain weight on it and I did not have any other side effects. Only reason I stopped it is because I lost my insurance and I couldn’t afford it on its own.

it is -very new- , so the data is limited, but...from what little i know about it, it doesn't carry the same risk of serious weight gain and metabolic problems as many other similar drugs, including seroquel.

It's great to know nobody has had any weight gain issues. I was most worried about that. Also I have bipolar type 2 as far as I've been told so that full blown mania isn't an issue for me. Mostly I'm just depressed with some hypomania and mixed episodes but very occasionally have some paranoid delusions.
