Today I felt so irritable!! it annoyed me that a woman was speaking to her mom without using proper grammar... everything really annoyed me... anyone who was talking about anything seemed to annoy me.
Someone who is bipolar told me that it sounded hypomanic. I just got the bipolar II diagnosis, so I'm new at knowing all of this...

Have any of you had the same experience?

Wow, I am going through similar questions with myself. I feel myself getting irritable over EVERYTHING. Someone will want to ask me a question about what book I'm reading, and I want to scream at them. There will be a small crowd at Target, and I'll want to leave. I find I am able to control my behaviors, but the feelings of irritation/annoyance FEEL overwhelming. From what I understand, irritability can be a sign of depression, mania, hypomania, OR a mixed episode(depressed and manic together). I've had a couple Drs think I had perhaps a mild bipolar disorder, others who disagreed with that. It's really confusing, so I'd like to know about the irritability thing too. I guess since it coudl be a symptom of different mood states, you could ask yourself about other symptoms in yourself, or about times in the past when you've been depressed or hypomanic and compare. Do you typically become irritable when feeling sad? Have you ever had a hypomanic episode? How long have you felt like this?

Hi guys, I don't have a bipolar or depression dx (I'm anxious) but I get irritated for goodly periods sometimes. Make sure something else, even something small hasn't gone wrong earlier that you're taking out on everything that comes next? Too, we like and dislike certain things and if we're stressed we can blow up incidents, like the line, Sam, into something harder to deal with than normal. I don't like driving in heavy, stop-and-go traffic but don't mind it as much if I'm not driving; things like that.

I was struggling this morning with our household accounts I'm learning from my husband and took major offense with his calling my feelings about something "stupid". It is a little thing and I guess lots of people would feel it's stupid but because of my general mood underneath it got blown out of proportion.

I get angry when I'm sad, Sam. I think the anger mobilizes me and gets me out of stuck places. And stuck to me sometimes means frustrating and frustration can make me very irritable. There's nothing "wrong" with that though.

Be gentle with yourself ouch, Colleen, and Sam!
