I like having the tv/ audiobook going in the background.

not really to help me sleep, but to drown out other noises and to keep me from thinking bad thoughts at the end of the day (I find it good to relax in to another world)

you?

Yes, I have a fan heater on (set to cold). Ever since I was in my teens, about 40 years ago. Can't sleep without it.

We keep a fan on. I Don't require it to sleep, but I prefer it.

I answered this somewhere else recently.

Generally I like quiet. I dislike voices or music when I want to sleep, but do like nature sounds (summer insects, rainfall, birds). I don't mind the sound of the central AC/heat or a fan. I have used a sound machine to help me sleep. I like that and it usually helps, but I use it only as needed.

Also, I like my room to be as dark as possible for sleep. Dark.
Thanks for this!

My husband always had to have the tv on low, I’d wait til he fell asleep and turn it off. He’s blessed with the ability to lay his head down and be asleep in seems like seconds.

I needed quiet and dark.

Well when my husband was put on oxygen at nite using a concentrator. Well it’s loud , a constant whoosh whoosh sound. It took me months to get use to it.

When he was in the hospital of course I barely slept but I turned it on, Ive grown so use to it now.

I have slept with some sort of fan since college. I lived on Broadway in NYC on the third floor and it was soooooo loud. Now, I can't sleep without a fan, It's like a pacifier.

I like having some really low background noise like a fan, can't have tv on because it prevents my brain from relaxing. I have some relaxation apps and sometimes I put on thunderstorms

can you explain how you can have a "heater fan" set to cold?

heat is hot, unless I'm missing something

I need the tv on in the background to help distract me from my racing thoughts which get worse at night when it`s time to go to bed.

I always buy one where you can adjust the settings, and I put it on the lowest/ off, which only blows cool air, not hot. I have it on all night so heat would be unbearable in the summer.

I listen to guided imagery. It helps me to regulate my breathing and it puts me out. On nights when I don't use it, I wake up a lot.

I find listening to David Attenborough’s and Stephen Fry’s voices soothing so I often go to sleep listening to a documentary.
