I do not know of anyone getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep, but maybe there are people who are so lucky?

I find that whenever I fast , I start to feel like I am coming down with a cold.
I will, sometimes, even start alternating sweats and shaking chills. It is worse for me, of course, when I am doing something like a 2-3 day fast.

I am sorry, I should know this: Are you doing intermittent fasting?

It sounds like you are giving your program a good shot!
Thanks for the reply, I was wondering where I made this post about uninterrupted sleep. Yeah, I actually think my husband might be capable of getting it, which makes me jealous. On the other hand, I may have had a sprinkling of this in my life and with the most recent, I didn't actually feel any more rested. But anyway, my typical is interrupted.

Don't be sorry! You can't k ow everything about everyone WC! *hugs* But yes, I am intermittent fasting. Nothing like 2-3 days though, just like about 14hours a day. (It's not exact, due to varying things in my life) But yeah, it's been about 5 or 6 days now...thing is, I might need to take a break for "women stuff", but maybe just a day or two. We will see.

Today I'm doing good. Slept enough last night (I think), and now I'm going to break my fast...a little late, but I got sucked into PC again. Lol

I hope this doesn't seem obnoxious to write, but I can get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. With my Seroquel XR (and other medications), it's easy as long as I take my meds on time, go to bed at a good time (with quiet and dark), and am otherwise not in a mood episode.

I need to weigh myself again, but even though I have a scale, I have found that weighing myself more than once per week is a bad idea.

I cannot go to sleep hungry and I do tend to get a bit hungry a while after dinner. I am also miserable if I skip breakfast, though I usually don't need a big breakfast. I think my appetite issues are related to my Seroquel XR. Luckily, I am not overly hungry during the middle of the day. Sometimes I almost forget about lunch or eat a very small one. Dinner is inevitably big because my husband is hungry after work. I also love to cook nice things for him. Lately I've been craving salty stuff, which is unusual for me. Usually I crave sweet stuff.

I barely drink alcohol at all, compared to the past, but I feel that my consumption is inching up a little. I need to get back down more.

I think it is great you get longer nights of sleep! If someone didn't I would not think it is possible!

I cannot sleep hungry either. I make sure I have extra protein at dinner. If I think I am going to be hungry in the night, I eat some protein just before I go to bed.

not obnoxious. happy for you! i guess it just bothers me, for example, when my husband will sometimes complain about a poor night's sleep and deny the fact that i have a bad night (or bad nights rather). True I have the time to take naps, but even that doesn't always work. Meh! I don't really feel i should be complaining today. i'm in a good mood/good place...despite anything else.

Back on the diet bandwagon....my friend’s 50yrs old in April. My goal is to lose some weight by then.

Wildflowerchild, I suffer from severe claustrophobia. I need annual mri’s and had my last one done under sedation. I was knocked out cold and it was fantastic.

Well did some grocery shopping tonight. I got sone great deals on foods I had already planned on getting.

This week my husband and I are still going to eat a few things that aren’t all that healthy but we are eating nothing after dinner, late night grazing has become a real problem for us both.

I normally just eat one meal a day, but with rolling into a basic diabetic diet I will need to eat something for both breakfast and lunch it will be a big struggle for me. But I need to start monitoring my blood sugar even tho I do not have diabetes but checking my blood sugar I will be able to help adjust foods/ portions etc

By the 3rd week we should have things pretty figured out. I will take another week or so to truly cut back portions to the correct size, stomachs need a couple weeks to shrink of course.

My husband will give up on diets/ food changes quickly if he truly feels hungry so a slow decrease in portion size is going to be the smartest.

Basically a month from now we will be fully on board. My husband will jump on the scale daily. I really want him to just check weekly. I think it’s just mentally easier. I can not go near a scale. But my clothing will tell me if I’m making progress..

I want to wish everyone that is making lifestyle changes with foods and physical activities all get results so we will all continue on to better physical health

stomachache on and off all day. Was really nauseated in the morning almost to the point of "getting sick", but that has thankfully passed. Now it's just a little upset stomach every time i eat (lunch and dinner). Probably the food was a little spicy...and I'm just pmsing bleh!

I'm glad your tummy has recovered, giddykitty.

It is lunch time, but I'm not at all hungry because I ate two breakfasts. I don't always eat two breakfasts, but more often than I should. The problem is that hubby wants to eat breakfast together early in the morning. I have to put it on the table. Ideally, I'd rather just eat a "brunch" at 10:30 am instead of an early breakfast at 6:50 am. I somehow get ultra hungry at 10:30 am. Another strange part is that I only want semi-sweet stuff at 6:50 am, while by 10:30 am I crave savory stuff (i.e. eggs and meat).

it's...well, past lunchtime here and I'm not hungry either! I did eat a late breakfast, so I will probably skip lunch or just have a small portion.

oh, and my cold is still here. lost my voice, kinda, this morning...haven't talked all day so not sure if it's still gone or not. lol But I feel better. I hope this doesn't last long, although as he was leaving for work husband said he thought he might be coming down with a cold so ugh...we might be at this for a little longer. :P

I hope you feel a little better today, giddykitty. As for your husband getting your cold, that's life. I had a horrible cold that turned into bronchitis just after Thanksgiving. My husband had had a cold then (much milder). I could have also gotten it from someone on the airplane.

Are you drinking enough water ?? Pushing fluids can help getting over a cold or any respiratory infections faster. I generally drink almost a gallon or more a day.

Colds are so easily passed between people, he will manage it.

Well my husband and I are doing better, no after dinner snacks for me.. my husband has only had a yougart or handful of raw nuts...

Tonight I made pork chops, lots of broccoli with just lemon juice( no salt or butter ) and brown rice ..., I added some fresh crushed garlic and chives, about 1 cup each. It was tasty.

Anyone have any ideas about how to dress up brown rice that keeps it mostly healthy??

@~Christina I'm trying to get enough water. Drinking green tea as well. Oh! i forgot to have that tonight. Well, it's zero calories right? it shouldn't break my fast then.

I'm not sure if I'm feeling all that much better yet, but I mean I'm happy and dancing around today. lol Still have the miserable cough and my voice was squeaky again...but i think it's funny and cute! lol Seems like my husband's doing alright, but then again, he doesn't always tell me how he's feeling...and yet, other times that's all he can talk about haha!

I've done something like this before. I've also done olive oil, red wine vinegar and basil.

I think it might be good cold too with little pieces of feta cheese if you're into that flavor and texture.

Your food choices sound pretty awesome to me. You're putting into motion the plan you made for yourself a while back. It is cool to see, thanks for sharing!

Oh yeah Feta ! My husbands hates it and Im really happy to have more for me that way lol

Thanks I am happy how things are going so far... I can handle changing food choices over night but my husband just can’t. He really stresses out .. so slowly easing into it should be much easier.

How have you been ??? I’ve missed you around but I know you are always busy with your family, they are so lucky to have you

Incremental change is a smart route. When we have a habit our brain already has neural pathways established to support our thoughts about it. We travel the same thought/emotion paths over and over almost on autopilot. When we change it is like carving out a new road for the first time. It takes a while before you can travel the path comfortably. It makes sense he would need to ease into it. He's more likely to accept it as the new habit if his brain can build the infrastructure support it needs over time.

We have the same thing going on with feta here. More for me!

I've been spreading my time around a bit more lately. My family takes up the majority of my time each day, but I've needed a mental challenge and I've been working on that. It is helping me to push myself a little and keep things balanced. I'm taking great care not to push too hard because I don't want to induce mania. Essentially, I'm striving to keep things in the Goldilocks zone So far, so good!

I've been doing much better with my fuel choices too. I ate a lot of treats and heavy foods over the holiday and it feels better to be on a lighter path. My body seems grateful.

I do miss being around more. I feel like I'm missing out. I am making sure I pop by enough not to lose touch. You guys are very important to me!

I make cold rice salads in the warmer months. I just throw in whatever I have in the kitchen! No recipe.

I have also used all kinds of sauces and veggie/meat/tofu mixes for a stir-fry. All stir fry dishes do not have to taste the same.

I like sweet onions, garlic and low-sodium tamari sauce.

Another might be a variation of pork fried rice?

I was on an elimination diet once. I had started with brown rice. I had eventually been able to add apples. I was very limited on foods for breakfast, I ate brown rice with apples and cinnamon almost every morning. (I would cut up the apples and place into a small bowl. I would add a lot of cinnamon. I heated this in a microwave. I would then heat up the pre-cooked brown rice, pouring the apple/cinnamon mixture on top of the hot rice. It was my favorite breakfast for many years.

I ate a lot of brown rice and various seaweeds when on a macrobiotic diet.
Also made brown rice sushi. (Skipped the raw fish and used veggies only.)

Brown rice topped with kimchee/kimchi.

Will continue to think on this. .

I have not checked in for awhile. Nice to see everyone is motivated to better their health!

I am/have been exhausted. In fact, I was nodding off while writing the above post on brown rice. I am doing the same while writing this post.

Current demands are many and are tiring. I won't get into it all.

I am doing okay with dietary goals. I am following a Paleo type of diet. My mom has also decided to go along with this, for the most part.

She had recently ordered a month's worth of pre-packaged food from Nu*** Sy*****. Yuck! Lots of carbs! She could not return it to the seller fast enough. My impression of that program is that it makes it easier by having almost every meal/snack ready ahead of time. It seems to be largely portions control. It is also low sodium.
I. personally, cannot eat that many carbs; my blood glucose goes wild on a diet like that one!

Okay, time for a much needed nap! I take maybe 4 naps a year. I am just today.

Love to All!

My husband got a year end summary of charges for our main credit card. It breaks out the spending by category, like "groceries", "restaurants", etc. Last year we spent an astronomical amount of money on groceries. I had even tried to cut down spending there. I will say we cut down on restaurants a lot.

I was trying to think about what we spend most on in the grocery store. The sad reality for us is that fruits and veggies are among the biggest expense. Yes, we prefer the fresh stuff, and not just carrots and cabbage. I have switched to frozen fish/seafood, saving good money on that, and more often buy the cheapest pork chops and chicken legs instead of breasts. I even sometimes buy cheap whole chickens and cut them up myself. Dairy adds up, too.

It's almost like people are forced not to eat healthy because of the costs. That is such a shame!
