Yes, in my previous experience that is correct, unfortunately. As long as there's some benzo in the body all is well. It's the complete absence of benzo that starts the really hard part.

Spoke with my GP yesterday about what seems to be chronic UTI. She said she believes I'm actually having a med side-effect. I was kind-of afraid she'd say that...I tend to agree. The question, of course- which med, or is it med interaction? Based on the timing, I think it's the Trilafon, unfortunately. I feel shaky all over my body, like tremors, but all over. It's been going on for months. I don't know why I haven't told my pdoc. There's something about talking with her online that causes me to clam up. sigh. I don't know.

Anyway, I have an appt. with her tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be productive. Feeling like I constantly need to pee is really affecting my life.

Hey @BethRags do you think you need to see a urologist?

I would think so, except that I have an intuition that my GP is correct about this being a med issue. I'm seeing my pdoc today, hopefully she'll have some good ideas.

Explained to Dr. W. previously unexplained side-effects. Frequent/urgent need to pee, inability to regulate body temperature/sweating (even when it's cold), tremor/shaking (akathesia). She listened well and with concern.

Slow decrease in some meds to start. Pristiq from 100 to 75. Amantadine from 200 to 150. A start that will (please) bring some relief.

Hello, sorry to hear about the tremors. I had the same problem with Latuda, it seemed to work but the tremors are not worth it. Hope you find one that works for you. Please keep trying, your worth it.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and support, gottagetup and bizi. I really needed it today.

Just had a session with my pdoc. I'm still complaining of frequent urination, she's still insisting that I slowly decrease the medication (Amantadine) she feels is responsible for it. I don't believe that I need to decrease so slowly. She wants me to consult with my GP again (???)- my GP is difficult to work with and I'm not sure what she has to do with all of this, anyway. Then pdoc suggested a referral to a neurologist. I can ask for one, but my 2 out of 3 experiences with neurologists have been no good and not at all helpful. Of course, a new neuro. could be a positive.

I'm going to do some reading/research on my own today about Amantadine and if I feel I can reduce it more quickly, I will. At this point I feel caught between doctors and I'm not getting clear answers.
----------------------------------

Reading much info on Amantadine. I see that it can be reduced by half to start withdrawal. I'm going with that, regardless of Dr. W. doing only a 1/4 reduction. She's not the person having to get up to pee 8 times/night. I believe that this is a time when I need to own my own body.

For many months I've been taking a large dose of biotin to repair my nails after having had gel polish on them too frequently. For some reason I googled "biotin overdose", just because I became concerned about possibly taking too much biotin. My nails have never been so healthy and grown so fast...almost oddly so.

Whaddya know. Biotin is processed through the kidneys. The only issue that can occur with too much biotin is frequent urination. Hmmm! So besides halving the dose of Amantadine I've cut down my biotin dose. It would be amusing if the biotin is the culprit, after all - or the combination of the 2 substances.

That would be interesting beth. I think I would give up the biotin if it meant better sleep.
just my take on the matter.

Thank you so much for your help and support, bizi. I threw out my bottle of biotin, so now I'll be taking only the amount in my daily multi-vitamin, which should be okay. I'm really curious to run this by my pdoc!

Hi bizi, My mood feels stable. And the frequent urination is gone!! What an immense relief. So the cause was either Amantadine (which was for tremor/akathesia) and/or biotin.

Wellbutrin raised to 100mg/twice daily as of yesterday. Everything else still the same. I really want to reduce some of the others, but Dr. W. is in no hurry. *sigh*
