Maths too.... I have a maths disability called Dyscalculia. I would love to do Maths just don't have the comprehension of it tbh.

Question: What support is there in your local area for mental health? Is there help lines to call at night etc? Could be national too

The thread How are you all dealing with coronavirus and the restrictions many of us have to live seems quite active.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

I've called a couple helplines in my time.

not so much samaratans anymore, but papyrus was good when I was feeling low

and when it was active the helpline for bipolar UK's mentoring service. that was useful to access

and I've used anxiety UK

tell me about a nice christmas memory you have

I particularly enjoyed the first Christmas I spent with my husband's family in Czech Republic many years ago. My mother-in-law was still alive (even my mom, youngest nephew, and paternal grandmother were, but they were in the US), it was a winter wonder land, my husband's family practiced all Christmas traditions, the food was delicious, and everyone was very happy.

What do you look forward to most about 2021?

Any to be honest

O Little Town Of Bethlehem has to be number 1

Then there is Come All Ye Faithful
Silent Night
Away In A Manger
Once In Royal David's City

The list is endless

Question: How would you describe your Christmas Eve?

I think in the UK it's called the Matterhorn or Flying Bobs or Terminator.

Uneventful, like any other day really - we don't have children.

What normally happens in your town/city for New Year's eve?

We use to have a Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) party back in the 90's early 00's but that stopped. Normally pubs have a lock in and you celebrate with the people in the vars/pubs/clubs.

New Year's Day a tradition in my city is called The New Year Dook which takes place any time from 8am to 3pm on New Year's Day. Its when the crazy people jump into the freezing river. Temperatures reach -10 etc. I do it. But not this year NO celebration as Scotland as of 26th Dec is on full lockdown Covid we all curse you

Question: What is a tradition be in food or drink you have on Hogmanay or New Year's Day?

I had never heard of Hogmanay before. Sounds fun! New Year's day in my family always consisted of eating a large ham dinner. In my husband's country, in early morning many people ate lentils with ham chunks and sunnyside up eggs on top, and drank more beer. As for the dinner, I forget.

What do you tend to do/eat when you wake up in the middle of the night hungry?

junkfood.

I say that like it's the most natural thing in the world, but it's the closest thing in my reach and I'm lazy, you know- and I hurt.

are you staying up until midnight new year's eve?

I haven't stayed up 'til midnight on NY's Eve for at least 28 years. I am just too sleepy, plus I'd rather just wake to a new day than go through all the emotion of the old year falling away. It's too overwhelming.

If you could live in a tree house that was warm and safe, would you?

Yes! And I'm sure our cat would love it.

Have you attended a non-work meeting on zoom - like a support group or a get-together with friends or family?
Thanks for this!

Yes, I have. I attended a friend's birthday party. It was much more fun than I'd expected it to be! I'll be attending a zoom NAMI group next week.

Did you wake up to snow this morning?

Yes we have a small amount of snow - it's pretty.

Is/was your home nice and quiet this morning, or is there commotion?
Thanks for this!

I'm not exactly at home, so it's totally quiet. Both my still home in NJ (that is soon to be sold) and my upcoming home in Czech Republic are empty at the moment. Right now Hubby and I are in a lovely hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. At this precise moment, at 4:42 pm, Hubby is snoring and I'm listening to the sound of the fire in the gas fireplace and the tapping of my fingers typing this.

Have you ever done anything unconventional on Christmas day that you particularly liked, for a change?

Several Chirstmas days in my twenties, I had the pleasure of spending the day alone with my pets. I took advantage of my building's laundry room being empty and caught up on my washing. It was great, and probably the best xmas days I've had in my entire life.

Does this coming New Year bring you feelings of hope?

We had turkey, peas, and cranberry sauce. With a bit of fancy chocolate.

Can you read sheet music?
