I left home and never came back for more than a visit when I was 18 but lived in dorms and camp cabins. I moved 2 states away for grad school and was financially independent then.

How much did you earn at your first job?

Pennies as it was a very part time job as I was 16 and still at high school. I earnt £2.50 an hour which by today's standards for teenagers is nothing. This was back in 2000. My wage went up by pennies every year. But still nothing major

Question: what was your best job? Why?

If it's nothing special 15 minutes. If it's something where I want to wear my (long, curly) hair down more like 25 minutes.

Do you have any food allergies?

Nope, no allergies of any kind,..oh wait, I’m allergic to penicillin. That developed as an adult.

If you could have a dinner party for three individuals( living or dead) plus you, who would they be?

I suppose this would vary according to what's going in my mind. At this moment, since you mentioned "living OR dead", I'd say I'd want to have my late mother, my late paternal grandmother, and late paternal grandfather. Sad to say, but I'd leave my still living father off the guest list (this time) despite having his late parents. The three I mentioned were the most loving and pleasant people I ever had the honor to be around.

If you could re-live one of the more pleasant occasions of your life, which would it be?

It would be a summer day up at the cabin. Swimming all day, and my cousins would be there to play games with and compete against. We’d get a full day in swimming, canoeing, fishing and eating fish and veggies cooked in individual foil in the fire. S’more s for dessert. Sleep out on the porch watching the moon on the lake.

What is the best gift you’ve been given?

I can't think of one single thing that is greater than all but one thing that I cherish the memory of was the day I went to clean out my desk because I'd gone on disablity my family member sent me a vase of tulips. It was so sweet and made the day easier; I remember the tulips as much as the painful parts.

Has the delta version of Covid changed your life at all?

Yes, it has. We're having the mask mandate again, so masks have to be worn when inside any store, theater, etc. There is also a delay on holding public gatherings (such as an in-person NAMI group). It's very disappointing.

What is the longest amount of time you've seen one psychiatrist?

Probably the first Christmas and New Years that I spent with my husband and his family in Prague, Czech Republic and his sister's country home. That was about 20 or so years ago. Hubby's mom was still alive back then (and so was mine) and all was going well. It was lovely how his family shared Czech traditions with me. It also snowed a lot and was a winter wonderland. We also went to a couple beautiful music concerts.

Do you remember all of your grandparents and if you are married, did you meet all of your spouse's parents and grandparents?

I remember all of my grandparents as I didn't lose my first one until I was 39. I'm 46 now and still have one grandmother who I'm very close to. I'm blessed in this regard. I met ex-husband parents, who are both gone now, and one of his grandmother's.

Question: did you enjoy reading as a young child/teenager?

I devoured books (novels) when I was a child/teen. In my young adult years I started reading mainly nonfiction, though. Now I'm back to fiction and an occasional biography.

If you found a 50$ bill in a parking lot and no one was around to claim it, what would you spend it on today? (I don't know the equivalent in Euros, sorry.)

Hi Beth. Today the equivalent is 42.82 €. In British pounds, it's 36.35 £. In Czech currency, it's 1,092.52 CZK. Lucky find!

I'll let the next person answer what they'd spend it on. [See BethRags question above.]

I try to donate surprise money to charity. So probably the food bank.

Do you balance your checkbook every month or just go by what the online banking says? We just were having a discussion of this with my mom and my niece's other grandparents versus all the aunts and uncles.

I rarely write checks, I mean rarely. Maybe once every two three months so I go by what my online bank balances are. I briefly scan my online statement to verify that the checks been cashed. I do almost everything online. Rarely using cash or checks.

Is there anything you wish would come back into fashion? Low rise bell bottoms, rock, pet rocks? Anything?

I can't think of anything. I guess I'm not much of a trend-follower.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

I wish real people would answer the phones for companies. Especially drugstores. I’d like to have operators back too.

Would you rather take a vacation in Alaska or Hawaii? Why?

Hawaii because I've already vacationed in Alaska and I don't like snow or cold that much.

What's something you can't stand that most people like?

Excessive use of garlic in cooking.

What is your favorite piece of furniture in your home? And why?

I have no furniture because I fled a mentally abusive relationship and moved across the country. However, I was just approved for a new apartment so I'm looking forward to getting some furniture for it (cheap -FB marketplace, garage sales, etc). I'm hoping to get a recliner.

Do you like spicy food?
