What is the last movie you saw in a theater?
Oh my, it's been so long ago because of the pandemic! I haven't seen anything in a movie theater since moving to Europe. Though I'm not 100% sure, I do recall maybe it being either Bohemian Rhapsody (with Rami Malek) or A Star is Born (with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper). I liked both movies very much. I did more recently go to see a play in my new country of residence. It was a lousy experience as it was still during mask mandate, I didn't understand the language, and the seat was extremely uncomfortable. My husband's actor friend was in the play.

Where was the nicest movie or other type of theater you ever went to? And why did you like it so much?

It wasn’t the nicest theater but it had the most old world charm and atmosphere. It was an old theater near my off campus living way back in the late 70’s. The theater had been around for decades and had a faded grandee elegance that modern theaters lack. It played. Only foreign movies and that was another aspect I loved. I loved disappearing into its faded charm and the outside world would fade away replaced with foreign countries foreign languages, they were subtitled which allowed me to enter their world.

Do you watch foreign movies, why or why not?

Sometimes. It depends on the movie. The ones that stick out in my mind are Das Lieben Der Anderen (The Lives of Others, about a Stasi agent and the couple he was surveilling.) and Ballad of a Soldier (Russian film about a young soldier given leave to go home to his mother. Kind of a road trip movie in a war zone.). I find it fascinating to see stories that are particular to those countries.

Have you ever watched any of Anthony Bourdain's shows (No Reservations, Parts Unknown)? If so (or even if you haven't), what are your thoughts on the man?

I very rarely got glimpses of his shows but what I saw of him, he seemed like a pretty cool guy and someone it would be interesting to know and hang with.

Do you consider yourself an introvert, extrovert or ambivert?

Definitely an ambivert. I require plenty of alone time, I'm not a phone person. But I also feel myself come alive when I'm with people, especially if there's music involved in some way. I'll say I'm 3/4 an introvert, 1/4 extrovert. I wish I could see online people as if they are IRL people.

Do you like Halloween? Any fun (or not so) memories, and are you celebrating or decorating this year?

My favorite Halloween was one year at work the rehab team dressed up like Wizard of Oz. I was the lion. I've never actually seen the movie in its' entirety but we had a lot of fun. I think we also won a prize.

What is your go-to easy but good meal?

Ooh, you should watch the entire movie, Rainbow! Especially the unabridged version. It is such a strange, surrealistic film. Talk about Halloween!

Beth, I know I"m a grown woman but I just remember being so scared of Wizard of Oz as a kid that I just don't have a desire to try. Maybe sometime my mom and I can watch. Goofy but I've had that with a lot of movies. I think I feel like I'm living in the movie and just get overwhelmed.

A: I like these grain packets that I get from Aldi's although other places carry them too. They have quinoa, wheatberries, brown rice and other whole grains. I dice up some avocado and put that on top and it's delicious.

Q: Same one: What is your go-to easy but good meal?

Oh, I so much understand that about movies @BeyondtheRainbow. And The Wizard of Oz IS scary! It's not supposed to be, but that movie is one freakin' creepster. Although I love when she sings Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Hey, that fits your name

Chicken or shrimp fajitas or spinach quesadillas. It comes together in a jiffy and who doesn't like Tex-Mex? I usually have what I need on hand for at least one of these options.

Question: What is one of the regular holiday food offerings (side dish, main, dessert) in your family that you sort of or completely dislike?

Cranberries and or relish or jelly. I dislike cranberries period no mater how they are made. But every thanksgiving and Christmas the family has to have them.

Same question

I used to like the leaves changing color when I lived farther north. They don't really change color in Texas. But I am happy with temps below 90 F, so I can actually go outside.

I'll say no, because it's not our thing and we have pretty much zero expectations of ever winning any significant amount of money from them. But we have bought them for fun a couple times. Neither my husband nor I are gambling types. Hubby's maternal grandmother and grandfather were to a very unhealthy degree. In fact, my m-i-l was sent to her aunt's house for about 5 years because the parents were out on a gambling spree in Monte Carlo (Monaco) and had lost so much money they couldn't afford to properly raise her. Very bad and it affected my m-i-l throughout her life. Interestingly, the family of my m-i-l's aunt lived in the next town over from where we're currently renting. This week we even saw the house she lived in, the remnants of the factory that family owned, and the cemetery where they are buried. No one in my family really gambled, but apparently one of my paternal great grandfathers was a bookie on the side. I think for horse races. Maybe he gambled, too?

Q: How far back on one of your parent's sides do you know things about?

My grandmother's parents. I'm sure my brother knows more as he's into genealogy but those are the furthest back I know much about. Going back farther is more remotely related family.

Have you ever tried a specific therapy like EMDR, brainspotting, IFS, etc or just done eclectic work?

Mostly eclectic but now I'm doing IFS

What is something you like to smell but most people don't?

Horse manure. Soooooo many good memories.

What’s one place you’ve visited that you never want to return to?

Ireland. Though I'd also like to see some places there that I haven't seen.

Q: How do you like your mattress? Soft, medium, or firm? And any other things you like your bed to be (i.e. by window)?

Firm. I don't have much choice about where things are in my room; it's very small. So it is where it fits.

Do you jump down internet rabbit holes and get lost? What is an example of something you've gotten into?

I get into all kinds of things and can spend hours lost in reading various articles, jumping from one thing to another. Today I spent way too much time on a floor planner creator, though it is relevant to renovating our new property. Some of that stuff takes time to get the hang of. Plenty of frustration and restarts.

Q: If you like board games or game shows, which one is your favorite?

I love games. Uno, aggravation( I think that’s the name) trivial pursuit, life, monopoly, rummy 500, rack, go, many more. For game shows my favorite isn’t on any more, it was a trivia game with three players and three regulars. Family feud, wheel of fortune, jeopardy.

Ooo this is a fun question. Same question.

I like to play games with my nieces; it's kind of our thing. Right now the favorites are Apple to Apple (Jr), Scattergories, Old Maid, Go fish and Battleship.

What do you do for fun as the weather changes?

Walk at the state park and watch the leaves change. This year I went to a fair and a college football game.

Would you live permanently on a boat if you had the opportunity?

Nay. The whole bathroom thing, yah gotta do it like RVs, takes a lot of cleaning and work. But I sure would like to spend a month aboard a boat on a lake in northern Minnesota and let someone else do the cleaning.

Similar question. Would you want to spend a year or two traveling in an RV?
