Do you and your mom usually get the flu vaccine?

I still wear a mask when I'm around other people indoors unless I am eating. I'm mainly afraid of being asymptomatic and infecting others.

We got our latest COVID boosters at Walgreens and it was so much easier than CVS. I’ll call ahead to see if they have senior doses of the flu vaccine. Walgreens would be so much simpler.

I just signed up with CVS and they did say they had the senior dose. But that may have been location based. We don't have Walgreens so I've not tried them. I did my COVID booster at RiteAid and it was better than my local CVS but the CVS in the city where my therapist practices is better than either of them. It has a Minute Clinic and the shots I've gotten there really did take a minute.

Again, thanks for the info. I’ll check with our CVS.

I have got all my Covid shots at CVS. But for the flu shots, they brought people from Kroger to my office. So that's how I got that one.

We’re thinking of traveling out of town to an apple orchard and a pumpkin patch. I wonder if I should put that off until I get us those flu vaccines. It will be crowded.

Yup. Mum’s been getting them for a while and I started when I moved in with her. I’m the one that goes out and interacts with others so I didn’t want to catch it and give it to her. We’re all caught up on all vaccinations and boosters. The hard thing is getting her to keep her strength up as she doesn’t have much appetite. Like tonight, nothing appeals to her, so I finally made a ham sandwich and peeled and sliced an apple. She ate that and the dipping dots we got yesterday. She started a AD but it’s early days yet and she still doesn’t have her appetite back yet.

If it’s in the open air it might not be too bad. You can better keep your distance outside.

Wow! That’s great that you’re all up to date with things. I’m sorry to read about your mom’s appetite though. I know losing her sibling must be so tough. For you as well.

That and can you wear masks if you go inside somewhere? We're strict maskers still but go to outdoor events without masks. If it gets super crowded we put the masks on although it's been a long time since that actually happened.

Doesn’t feel real though since there’s been no funeral yet. My uncle donated his body to science for Parkinson’s research so it could be months yet. We sent cards but that’s all.

I wondered about that when you never mentioned anything but I thought it would be out of place to ask.

I think it’s harder on my remaining uncle, he’s older and the two of them got together every week since they lived in the same city. Mum lives an hour away so she didn’t see him as often. Oddly the great granddaughter of their youngest sister really loved my uncle so it was hard on her too. It’s hard for a five yr old to comprehend that she’ll never see him anymore.

Mom has decided that no we’ll not be traveling tomorrow but getting flu vaccines instead. That’s okay by me. I really want mom to see her sister who has cancer next weekend. Both her sisters really but particularly the one that is so ill.

Cough cough wheeze wheeze

The steroid shot and now pills have really raised my Blood sugar but I gotta breath. I have to be very careful because steroids can destabilize me rather quick.

I work again tomorrow then off Sunday and on Monday and Tuesday. Being on my feet for 8 hours is just brutal on me.

I must get all info to my daughter so she can work on my resume. I simple need a different job.

Hope every one is enjoying there weekend.

I’m glad you have 3 days off, you need a break .

The weather here is absolutely a Indian summer. Tomorrow is forecasted to be 78F/25.5C then Sunday much needed rain comes in a cold front. It’s been beautiful!

Hello…I’m amazed that I’m here this early yet here I am. Only a bit late. I was on the forum until after 12:30 am last night and went to bed at 2:00 am. It was nice last night on the forum. Pleasant. Talking back and forth casually as it should be.

I had a great visit with my therapist. She validated what I was thinking and feeling and made things crystal clear for me. I see now. Deep down I think I always did. I have tremendous opportunity coming my way if I choose to look at it like that. I choose yes.

We went to see Ticket to Paradise yesterday. George Clooney and Julia Roberts were hysterical. It was a good movie. Of course I came home and immediately started figuring out how to make Bali happen. It’s stunning. Don’t scoff. Most of the places I’ve traveled seemed out of my reach. Russia most of all. Where there’s a will….

We were heading out to go to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch today but after the discussion on the forum last night, we’ll be getting flu shots instead. We’re (my loved ones) all in agreement that we don’t want a bout of flu to knock mom out of seeing her sisters next weekend. Particularly the one sick with cancer. We have a family reunion next summer. I’d sure love to see her there.

I hope everybody has a peaceful day. Much love.

I was very sleepy last night. No idea when I went to bed even. I'm sitting here in a summer t shirt. Must go and eat something.

@Sunflower123, Bali would seem so wonderful! I at least did see parts of Oahu, in Hawaii, when my brother lived there. Also a couple islands in Thailand. It's strange, apparently those Thai islands have become major tourist destinations since I was there. Gosh, it's been almost 30 years. Stuff sure changes in that period of time!

@HALLIEBETH87, I hope your cold is short-lived. @Fuzzybear, I went to bed early last night, too. Sometimes it's a good reset. I did wake up a few times during the night because the bed makes my back hurt. I really dislike the bed setup. I'm stuck by the wall, so have to do what seems a somersault to get out of it. I'm not in such good shape anymore to do that with ease.

Today my husband and I are taking it easy at home, after a very busy few days, two of which in the city. Hubby is at the moment asleep in the recliner, holding his cell phone upwards in his hand. Not sure how he manages that! I'm not a napper, so am typing away here. I've got to confess that the planning for our new house has been a bit exciting. I also received a very positive email from my sister. I kinda believe my brother won't be doing as well next week, as my sister said he did yesterday. He starts his chemo next week. What does concern me is that Sis says our brother yells at her in anger sometimes. He's always been prone to that, and I'm sure his health situation exacerbates it, but still Sis does NOT deserve to be yelled at. She said that she will soon go to a therapist, but I wonder why our brother doesn't. Too proud? Well, it's time to check that pride at the door.

I don’t know if that’s a good way to go… people should probably know they’ve been exposed to it so they can test and limit potential exposure to others as well. Also if you’re still testing positive it’s good for them to be aware too (not sure if you still are or not though).
