It's not a very costly cable, but it was supposed to be underground. Now the replacement will need to be routed through the house's attic. Plus, who did it? The renovation manager thinks it might have been one of the workers. He talked to them about it, but of course no one fessed up and its hard to blame any one of them without evidence to do so. So, if it was a worker, they continue on the project. If it was an outsider, then the question is whether they were just an ordinary thief, or a disgruntled person from the village who doesn't like outsiders. If the latter, I worry they could also strike again. We'll be glad when we're there to have a hopefully preventative presence. So sad that this happened! We just can't get a break and so wanted to move there feeling good and hopeful about neighbors. Not suspicious.
Ooohh I hope it’s not a neighbor. Yay, 2-3 weeks and you can start getting a home! Yay 😁

Thanks, Nammu. Yea, I hope it wasn't a neighbor.

Some village people in CZ really are hostile to outsiders. I don't just mean foreigners, but even people from Prague (cities) or even some other villages. Unfortunately, some people just haven't progressed in some ways, over the centuries. Kinda similar to some groups in the US.

Perhaps it was just a greedy or needy theft, not that those are excusable either.

Well it’s 13 days until we move. I still feel so unprepared. The more I look the more has to be thrown out. Taking a bunch of clothes to recycling this morning then going to the dumpster.

I’m still upset over work last week. I’ll write more about it another time. I left work early on Thursday crying. Didn’t go in to work yesterday. Monday is a public holiday so at least next week is a 4 day working week. Just gives me more time to pack and stress .z.

I’ve only told my bff from
Here but I’m hearing ****. I still feel bugs a times but last few days I keep
Hearing people talking just out of eyesight and every time
I respond or check…I’m alone. It’s annoying and keeping me
Up at night

I know it’s the stress of losing my grandma, mom wrecking her car and getting hurt and tying up loose ends at school
Before commencement.

I just can’t take this right now

Well, I'm officially loopy. Cough and congestion came back to the point where I got no sleep last night. Today, I compensated by taking Nasonex, Motrin and Delsym. For the short term, I'm OK. For the long term... I'm going to be asleep when my head hits the pillow. 🤞

I've been really worried about the future since i had such expensive (hypo)manias last year and the year before. I even considered getting a trustee to be in charge of my money. But it's occurred to me that the past two years were bad because i took an anti-depressant (Wellbutrin). In 2020 when i didn't take an anti-depressant i just got mild "boosts" in the Spring and Fall. I just cleaned out closets. I didn't spend money. I've thrown out my Wellbutrin...

So maybe everything will be okay... ?

Hello, we haven't met but i am a long-time member, just returning under a different name. Congratulations on paying off your mortgage! I'm nearing the end of mine also, about six years to go. I imagine it's a wonderful feeling! Sorry to hear your mom is being difficult. We are children at the beginning of our lives, and children at the end.

@Soupe du jour:

Glad to hear your renos are moving along nicely and that you have a firm idea of a move-in time frame. It sucks about the vandalism, of course.

@Nammu:

So glad to hear your daughter is doing well and back on Latuda and that it's generic and inexpensive now. Good news!

Glad you got some sleep. That antsy stuff ??!! I hate when that hits it makes every minute miserable. Here’s hoping it goes away

We might just get a security setup because of the above. As a deterrent. At least most thieves in CZ aren't packing heat like so many in America.

Great news on a end in sight of the Air B and B.

That sucks about the theft ! I think everyone should have cameras up to be honest if you live in a populated area. Sucks you need too.

So I'm glad and proud that I wrote my mother an email advising her to stop gossiping about our finances. She has always been abusive and I'm not taking it any more. Honestly she acts like I'm a criminal because I ran up a few thousand in debt after my husband lost his job (and my hours were slashed) during Covid and we couldn't meet our expenses. It doesn't even matter to her that we have now paid off our apartment, because we still have a minor debt. I never would have told her but she grills me... but no more. The funny thing is that she has handled her own finances abysmally but ended up well off due to the insane inflation of property prices in our city.

The really hard thing has been that she has all the sympathy in the world for total strangers who are in debt due to hardships. Just not her own daughter.

My mother is a cancer in my life. If I described the abuse I went through growing up, you would question my sanity in staying in touch with her. I just wanted to do the right thing, but I had no idea she would live this long (our family are notoriously short-lived and my dad died 25 years ago). She is 84 now. I care about her but there are limits to what I can endure.

I had a viciously abusive mother. There were some good things about her, but as I've aged and am working in therapy it's becoming impossible to excuse my mother's physical and emotional abuse. And neglect. She's been dead for a long time, but I feel haunted.

We are still missing @MuddyBoots and @Brentus. Brentus, if you're out there, please consider checking in.

Boots...I'm very concerned. It's been weeks, maybe a whole month, since I've seen you around. I miss you.

I'm going to bleach the hell out of my hair tomorrow. And do laundry. But right now I'm going to eat a big bowl of rolled oats with dates, almonds, and soy milk. Time change tomorrow night! Well, that's when I change my clocks, anyway. Then when I awaken on Sunday the time is correct.

The question is, when have I NOT done it. Yes, I've been bleaching and coloring my hair since I was 12. So that's...48 years. I have had it every color (seriously, every color) except black, only because black would be a ghastly color on me. All the reds, all the browns, ashes, goldens, blondes, platinum, every punk color and all sorts of mixtures. I am a tetrachomat (I've been tested for it), so I see more colors/shades/color variations than most people see. I have a ton of fun with that on my hair.

That's too bad. I always told myself that when my mother is gone I will no longer allow her to occupy my thoughts, but I try and do the same now and it's hard.

Don't let her haunt you. I personally don't believe in ghosts/spirits in this world so that's an advantage I guess. I know you probably didn't mean literally, but I believe if they are still around they are far away from here. And you never know what their perspective on their own actions might be.

One time years ago when my mother was bullying me (after I'd already moved away from home), she unknowingly was being recorded by her answering machine. She listened to herself and called me to apologize-- one of the few times she ever did. How I wished I had the recording of all the times she'd done worse!
