I'm taking 400mg of seroquel. Anyone think that is too much?

As I said, I've gained more than 100 pounds since I started the 300mg of seroquel.

Hello axelrose and welcome to PC! I've heard of people taking 500mg of Seroquel, so I don't think that 400mg is too much. I've only been on it for a couple of months, but it seems to be working wondefully for me. I am concerned about the possiblity of weight gain because I was on steroids for an extended period of time a few years back and put on 80lbs in about a month, so I really cannot put on anymore. I'm already physically uncomfortable.

I completely understand uncomfortable.. I am REALLY suffering here with this extra 100+ pounds myself.
I've went on several DIETS and not one allowed a weight loss of more than about 10-12 pounds and then I stalled at that point.

Most people say they take 25-50mg of Seroquel, perhaps that is what I need to request from my doctor???

Good to talk with you.

I started with 50mg, went up to 100 the second day, 200 the third and 300 the fourth, which was my goal dosage. If you're concerned about it, your doctor should certainly explain to you why he feels that you need this dose. I don't know, it's a miracle drug for me. I was scared to death when my dr told me he wanted me to try to get by without the ativan, but he was right, the Seroquel as been wonderful.

It's really nice to meet you too!

Hello Rose:

My 19 yo has been on 600 mg of Serequel for a few years now. I think since the age 16. I did not see him start to gain weight until the dr put him on Symbax last Thanksgiving but then he lost it real quick. Men are so much different. My 14yo however gained 20 lbs over the holidays on it. She began to look swollen and being a dancer that was horrible for her. I know how hard the extra weight works on you both physically and emotionally. Gained 100 pounds.

Ive been on 400mg up to 800mg. for 2 years and have gain 60 pounds most meds of this types seem to make you gain weight .As a inside joke at the groups I go to having a med. belly is how you tell who is on or off their meds. The trick is to find the right amount for you and the weight gain will stop or even go down abit between 300mg and 400mg was mine.
