i took abilify for my bpd for a very short while. a lot of ppl that take it are extremely pleased with it's results. in my case i found after about 10 days on it that i could not sit still, was agitated, couldn't concentrate, etc. i was physically uncomfortable taking this med for the reasons above. pdoc said stop taking it. please keep in mind tho that a lot of ppl have beneiftted with taking this drug. it just was not for me. hope this helps.

I actually had a similar experience as madisgram. I was fine on the 5mg dose, increased to 7.5mg and was doing fine but then increased to 10mg and I noticed I was starting to be anxious about everything. Just driving in my car made me super anxious. I decreased back down to 7.5mg and that particular side effect went away. I eventually came off of the medication because it just wasn't doing anything for me. Like madisgram said, many people have great results with Abilify so hopefully that's the case for you. Take care.

was on abilify for 1.5years. like others have mentioned - it can really perk you up, to the point of anxiety. i started abilify though because my energy was so low, so it really helped with that - i had no nasty side effects.

beyond the energy thing though it didnt do much for me, so i stopped taking it.

from memory, there is a thread on abilify in the med forum - it might be worth checking out .

I am taking 15 mg pd of Abiify. It has serious sexual side effects with men. However, I have found the benefits outweigh the side effects. I take it to counter depression as andidepressants alone failed to work for me.

Also my math skills have gone to waste on Abilify.

Was on 25 mg for 10 years for bipolar 1 & it helped tremendously for delusional thinking (mainly paranoia) but I gained 50 lbs. & now have high blood pressure, high cholesterol & diabetes so I have had to get off it & have to deal with all these physical issues as well as the low self-esteem as the result of the weight gain. Wonderful results for the control of the bipolar moods & thinking but bad side effects for me.

I take 5mg in the morning and 10mg at night along with .5 of Klonopin and I'm doing good. I am noticing weight gain though...not happy about that but I may have to choose what is worse my moods or dealing with the extra weight.
