A-ha. Now I understand your other post better.
Sorry mickie ![]() Have you checked local mental health clinics, to see what programs they have? They should have DBT programs. County clinics usually work billing so that they can get everyone who does need help in. Perhaps you should go in to the county mental health clinic & talk to them, see what can be arranged. Please try...it's worth a shot! Gentle hugs to you!

I AGREE I have had no luck finding a place that won't charge me heavly for DBT as it is I amfinished with my fee sessions form my medical with my therapist and can't afford to pay anyone even $20 a week, so I don't know what to do. I feel pretty helpless and hopeless with my future mental health and getting any form of help!

Try a local mental health services establishment.. they can at least point you in the right direction if they don't offer DBT. Personally im a client at Easter Seals and I haven't worked in years (and therefore have no money) yet they provide me with a case manager, psychiatrist, and therapists both for individual and group (DBT).
I have to say DBT is unlike any other form of therapy i've received. |

There is an online DBT course. Research it first before you even attempt to spend the money. I tried it, it is was actually an IOP (intensive outpatient) womens program after hospital release so it was covered under insurance but feeling depressed I thought it was an overwhelming program to deal with daily. I thought I was back in college!!! It is alot of processing. The names of the skills just confused me but after getting past that it is all positive thinking and problem solving. For me I found I already use the skills but in depression I cant tap into it so please research online and see if it is good for you.
let me know if you need help googling and finding it. :-)) |

DBT is not only for the rich! I am surprised you can't find a Phd, MD, LCSW or anyone willing to just call it Therapy. That is what it is and the insurance companies don't need to know exactly what type of therapy it is. The only reason they want to know is so they can turn you down for coverage. My Dr's just called it my diagnosis number and let it go at that. It was always covered and neither of us gave it a 2nd thought.
The other people's ideas were great too. If you do go online for the DBT, be ready for some trendy terminology. It is much, much simpler. I have gone thru the T and am in the best shape of my life. Anyway, I am an emotional person and therfore I often look at life and make decisions using my emotional side. Same is true for my logical side. But those 2 ways are not balanced thinking. So DBT brings your emotional mind to your logical mind to make a 3rd mindset. Your Wise Mind. It helps you STOP reacting or talking or whatever before you blow it. During those few seconds you put your thoughts in order making a wise choice. But for it to work you must WANT it to work and Be Ready to Accept the Changes. But if and when you do, it is wonderful. Good Luck. I hope this helps. ![]() |
