When you call in sick from work and you just know that everyone is talking about you and how awful it is that you called in and how irresponsible you are so you send a text message to some people there saying you could care less what anyone thought of you and they need to just get over it and if you called out that's your own business.... just to get a confused response because they actually weren't talking about you at all, they were having a good day and talking about other things... then you get mad because no ones talking about you so no one cares

You know you're borderline when you woke up feeling awesome, and now you're a complete mess because of one small incident and feel like the entire world is conspiring against you because you can't have one good day without something going wrong.

You know your Borderline when...

....simply the thought of loosing your therapist makes you want to run yourself off the road and into a tree!!

....When you feel like crap because you aren't thee best at something

......when you take any negative comment or criticism to heart and cant decide whether to hate yourself or the person who said it

......when you can't remember how you felt yesterday

......when you read too much into everything that was said or done and take the negative out of everything

......when you will hurt yourself just so someone will show they care

Oh diz, I can relate to so much of that.

You know your borderline when you go to meet with an old therapist, who has worked with you on some of your borderline issues a number of years ago. And you can't remember at all what you worked on and even ask her if she has dealt with borderlines! Only for her to respond "I've worked with you in the past."
Thanks for this!

Glad to know I'm not the only one I can't stand it when my bf or someone will say something and I'll be like "I didn't say that or do that." And they'll be like um yeah you did. Crap, I don't remember any of that.

You know you're borderline when...
On the inside when ever you are around other people you keep thinking I wish you could really know me, because no one really knows you at all...

You know your borderline when: something good happens and your excited for a bit and then start to think how could I deserve this and what do they want in return. I know there is a catch somewhere here!

You know you're borderline when...

...you meet someone, and they're wonderful, except - wait... where are you going? Home for the night? Well, screw you, then! I don't need you anyway!

...getting off the phone becomes a 3-hour project because you are terrified of being left alone.

...everyone around you describes you as "unpredictable," possibly because you just went from smashing your head on the wall and threatening to kill yourself to baking chocolate chip cookies, and you just can't see what on Earth they're talking about...

... your DBT diary card daily score for 'low mood' consistently reads '3', making you look stable, but doesn't capture the fact that '3' is the meaningless average of 30+ different moods over the course of the day.

I broke my diary card for "low mood" into morning/afternoon/evening. It helped a bit. But I totally understand what you mean.

You know your borderline when you finally don't feel lonely because now you have 2 cats. You always hated cats and now you look at them and can't imagine life without them.

Then you decide that you are pathetic because your only friends are cats.

Then you think this is okay, because, really there are much worse things than having cats for friends.

So you talk to them and buy them treats and put up perches so they can watch the birds.

And then you get pissed off because they won't sit on your lap when you want them to. So you decide enough is enough and you need to get out into the real world.

So you leave the house, feeling all positive, to go out in public and engage real people. You end up feeling self conscious and sad and so you come home..

And you look at your cats and are SO happy that you have them for friends.

You know you're borderline when you decide to stop telling people about your latest career choice/life plan because you're just gonna have to tell them you gave up on it 3 days later, and despite trying so hard to keep it to yourself, you know you have to tell that one person who always makes you feel special no matter how many things you give up on (mom )

You go to your pdoc appointment talk about what is going on. She tells you that "your head is playing tricks on you and your making yourself feel a certain way". You think maybe she is right, but at the same time are mad that she is telling you HOW YOU FEEL & THINK! And wonder if she knows anything at all. Even though you've been with her for 4 years.

Hey all,

I have been reading all of your posts and but I cant help but notice that I can relate to almost everything that has been said. There times when I think that my roommates are really cool and there are other times when I want to kill them. I fly off the handle without any notice.I am angry for a short amount of time but it is intense. There are times when I don't know who I am and try and be someone else because I don't feel comfortable in my own skin. I also dislike myself and feel that I am not worthy. I have not been diagnosed with BPD but I cant ignore the fact that I fit much of the criteria. Not to mention the intense moods swings. I have been on meds for mood swings and depression for a long time but have never actually found out what is wrong with me. Anyway, just wondering if anyone thinks that I might be on to something. I am not trying to self-diagnose or suggest to a doctor that I have bpd,but I can relate to a lot of other people in this forum. I am in college and hope to get to a psychiatrist soon!

Thanks,

I am glad that you are hoping to get to a psychiatrist soon. As for BPD, there is a quiz here in the quiz section on BPD. You could take the quiz and see what it says. If it comes up with a yes you could be, maybe print it off and take it into your psychiatrist.

Hope you find some answers.

Thanks for your response,

I took the BPD test and I scored a 35. Meaning I have symptoms consistent with someone who has severe borderline personality disorder. I guess this a bit of a wake-up call and I should really see a doctor. Thanks again for showing me the test! I am finishing out the school year in counseling and hope to see a doc in the coming weeks.

I am glad to hear that you are in counseling. You could bring this up to your counselor. I believe that counselor's deal more with diagnosis and then bring them up to psychiatrists to make sure your on the correct meds. I could be wrong though.

Please keep us posted on how things are going.

my last reply to my own thread, "uncle coming down" is definitely another example.

I had to ruminate on why he did not show up Monday.

I was pretty sure he hated me...

lol
