I know everyone is different, but marijuana really helps with my borderlines when it acts up.

I get really anxious and overwhelmed and depressed when it hits but I notice right before I have "one of my turns" when I smoke I think clear again and I notice I'm composed and calm and can think reasonably again....

Anyone else have this? / tried it?

Both positive and negative stories are allowed

Personally, I haven't tried marijuana to help regulate my moods, no.

I can see where it may be helpful in keeping extremely negative thoughts and feelings out of a person's mind. Provided you're in good company when with others, I suppose.

I'd say that professionals are against is use for us in that we aren't dealing with everything in life. The state of mind keeps more important (stressful) issues out of our minds. Which means that we aren't really dealing with "life". We pick up tendencies to only hang out with other potheads, and escape our realities that we can't deal with.

It's an option. As you probably know, you have lots of choices. You can decide how much you are willing and able to work through problems. It is a decision. We all make millions of decisions ~ some stupid, some smart, many insignificant, etc. Something for you to think about anyway.

to you!

I find if I'm in a bad situation when I'm high, or I smoke too much, my anxiety skyrockets and I get much, much worse. I've been having some seriously bad trips lately. But if I do it right it really does take the edge off. I can only take one-hitters right now and I can only do it if I'm alone or with a couple close friends.

My friend can go through a few grams a day and pretty much relies solely on weed to ease her anxiety. Neither of us have ever been diagnosed or even talked to a professional; pot's the cheapest and most accessible alternative right now. I just kind of feel bad for my friend, it costs her a lot of money and she has horrible panic attacks if she can't smoke for a couple of days. I'm pretty happy I'm an easy bake haha.

Have been using pot for quite a few yrs now as a way to self medicate my bipolar tendencies and my anxiety. I can tell a huge difference from when I smoke to when I dont and it sux because as now they are working on determining me disabled I cant work and so cant afford to smoke or my rx meds.. Up **** creek, no paddle to smoke =P...

Well, I don't think you should be taking those kinds of drugs to regulate your moods or to make you feel better. To me it is just like someone drinking alcohol to self medicate.

However, every chooses their life and how they wish to live it. So who am I to say, or who am I to judge what you should or shouldn't be doing. I will let that up to the professionals. This is just my opinion and it doesn't offend me or think of people any differently. Just wanted you all to know that. Everyone makes their own choices and I am happy that we as human beings can do that.

Marijuana effects brain chemistry. It may alleviate immediate symptoms, but long-term it is very damaging.

Memory will become affected, your central and sympathetic nervous system will become affected which can lead to adrenal fatigue, ergo massive increase in anxiety and fear levels. It can also lead to paranoia and delusional tendencies.

I was a pot smoker for years. It did much more harm than good.

Take good care of yourself.

Wow, I am with you 100% on this. I take BPD meds, but most therapists i have talked to say that no meds really work with the core BPD symptoms as it is a personality disorder! I smoke a lot and I have barely any anxiety anymore. I have a lot of confidence in myself and overall I am more happy.

Hi, i've been smoking grass for 3 years, im not the same person as i was. It helps me chill for about 40 minutes then i get a panic attack. Sometimes its better to smoke and fall asleep than face problems but it all comes back when you wake up. At my worst i would smoke 7-10 joints in a day, but honestly you cant rely on it instead of medication. I still smoke but only when I want to. I think that although it is not physically addictive when you rely on it like that its a mental addiction which we have a predispostion for, i found that i was very antisocial and for a while the grass was like what my t would call my "caregiver". I would barely leave the house being able to get other people to come around and when there was going to be a shortage of it i would be frantic, sometimes even searching my whole room for the tiniest leaf, which is pathetic. But hey its great for a cheer up when you're taking meds, they're not necessarily right for everyone but they are supposed to counter the despair we are prone to feeling. If anyone would like to talk about their own experience id love to chat(:. Stay safe.x
Thanks for this!

I know what u mean, and it is similar to the effects of alcohol. It is a fantastic short fix, but ultimately it does more long term damage. I know too many people who have ended up paranoid and/or psychotic because of it. I am not judging anyone, I'm only saying it coz I care. I can't talk as I have issues with alcohol and smoking for the same reasons, and I have to say they are such an easy 'quick fix' and not so easy to stop!...Oh the joys, we can't seem to win!

I tried it a long time ago, but it didn't help me. Just made me paranoid & more introverted. I guess every one is different.
If it really does work well for you though, ask your doc for an Rx. If he/she agrees, at least you'll be getting clean stuff. The stuff on the street can have chemicals in it. Just a thought to protect yourself. it can't hurt to ask.
Thanks for this!

Its cool to see the difference in everyone's opinion on this. I disagree with the fact that grass has similar effects to that of alcohol. It really does not. Alcohol is not even comparable to marijuana. There are NO medical studies showing a bad effect that grass has on you. There are speculations, opinions, and beliefs. NO medical proof that marijuana is "bad" for you. There is an abundant amount of proof showing how bad alcohol is for you. Watch the move "The Union," you guys will learn a lot about grass and that there are a lot of myths out there about this plant.

Just like any other substance, weed is not for everyone and will affect everyone differently. However, it's the reason I'm not taking antidepressants, which in my opinion, are alot more dangerous. It is a substance which should be used in moderation.

Deaths by alcohol: 1000+
Deaths by marijuana: 0

Just a thought.

However, medical marijuana is usually more potent. Found that out for myself when I visited a medical pot clinic.

Yes yes and yes. I can't do it often because of my job but yes it helps tremendously. Helps me think more clearly in terms of chilling the F out and stepping outside of the situation a bit to see it from both sides. Sucks that I can only do it like a few times a year now but I suppose it's best for the long run.

yes some people can , others cant, others still REALLY CANT! You need to be aware, you need to be careful. Its adictive, so it can pose problems simple as that.
Take care.
