I'm new here and I'm really glad I found this community. I would love to help others and learn more about myself in the process. I'm 24 and I was diagnosed with bipolar as a pre-teen and recently found out I also have BPD. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 8 months now and it seems like my intense emotions are only getting worse. It seems like every relationship I have ends up failing because of my anxiety/fears/stress...or whatever it is. Thankfully my boyfriend is really understanding but I feel like I hurt him with my freak-outs..Sometimes I can't help but react. It's almost like a skin crawling feeling..Sometimes I just snap.

Hi WildHeart, welcome to PC! This is a great website, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! I'm glad you have a supportive boyfriend; I suggest doing DBT, it will make your life a better one. Wish you the best!

Hi there
I'm 22 years old, and I was diagnosed at age 20 with BPD and major Depression. It's pretty common for us BPD's to suffer from unstable, overwhelming emotions at times we also tend to have chaotic interpersonal relationships. Are you currently in, or thinking about getting into Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)? It's very helpful and can be life changing. Welcome to PC. ![]() |

I have just started reading a book called "I hate you, don't leave me".....
I think it would help BOTH of you to read it and understand the issues that BOTH of you will have to deal with. |

I was just going to suggest the same thing! My boyfriend and I are reading 'I Hate You-Don't Leave Me' together and it is really helpful! (Actually we are listening to it on audiobook, but potato patahto) It gives him a better idea of what I'm going through and some coping mechanisms. For me, I believe in being as in depthly educated as I can be about my disorder, the more I know about it the easier it will be to overcome. (The one thing about the book is that it sure isnt sugar coating anything and is a little impersonal, you have to remember the book is about the disorder, not you. And you are not the disorder) Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your support and advice. I actually signed up for a DBT group but at the moment have no transportation..so I have to work on that. I know it would be helpful because I've been a apart of it before, but had to move to a different town. Having no vehicle can be tough..Also, I own that book! I haven't read it yet..I guess I've been too afraid to face my issues up front...but joining this community must be a big step! Maybe I'll start the book today
