Hello, all. I've been a member here for a while, mostly in the anxiety forum. I had a new psychological evaluation yesterday, and he gave me my 8 th dx of borderline personality disorder. I'm still learning about it and just wanted to stop in here and see if anyone has any advice or informative that could be helpful. Thanks.

((((not quite right))))

Certainly a difficult diagnosis to be given, let alone trying to understand. There's a compassionate book out, called The Borderline Personality Survival Guide. There's other books, but I like the authors choice of the word compassion, as that's needed when one lives with BPD.

Welcome to this part of the forum. I was diagnosed with bpd 2 months ago.

My type of therapy now is quite different as its tailored for bpd (other therapists I saw were for my bipolar).

I also enjoy reading books to get myself educated as this is new to me. I downloaded bpd for dummies (just a title in the authors series) on my iPad and I'm finding it very useful in terms of discovering more about this.

We're glad you're here.

Just read a lot and be mindful that you don't have to take the prescribed course of treatment - there are many different kinds for BPD. Also, while there isn't any diagnostic meds, there ARE meds to help control symptoms should you choose to try them.

Spend time figuring out what this diagnosis means to you - you might consider the condition unworthy of treatment (depending on the severity) or you might like to start a new care plan straight away. The health professionals involved in your care should be accepting of both decisions and mindful of how co-morbidity could be affecting your decisions/symptoms.

I hope this is vaguely helpful. Good luck and welcome.

Honestly I'm not sure what I think about it. I've been mentally ill for a long time, but this is my first personality dx. Though I admit it wasn't shocking. I'm very grateful to have a place to come and be welcomed by so many who are happy to share their knowledge with me. you can never know to much
