Hey everyone,

In DBT - my therapist has suggested that I need to build supports outside of therapy - as I get too dependent on it...

I have major issues with my Mom and I opened up to her tonight - told her I felt like I may have to go into the hospital, that I have been battling suicide for about 3 months... She responded by getting upset with me and defensive - and I literally could have lost it completely...

I asked for her to talk to me in the basement for awhile - in privacy.

I opened up to her about a lot of things. We shared sentiments. She and I cried almost the entire time - maybe 2 hours...

Now that I have put myself out there and opened up a door of trust - I am really worried... I get paranoid that she says things to people... This could potentially destroy me if it takes over...

Does anyone have advice for this? Anyone been in similar situations?

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

That's a huge step forward for you HDR.

And I'm sure your T would not have suggested this step if they weren't confident that it was in your best interests.

Hard, I'm sure.

You've told your mom things she never knew.

She obviously cares for you deeply and wants what is best for you.

My parents live in America so I don't get this heart to heart with them.

I hope you find some comfort with your decision.

I think the uneasy feeling will begin to pass.

So far so good. I don't have any trust issues after several days!
