"The Buddha and the Borderline"

Review on this?

I would like to add:

" A New Earth " and " The Power of Now " by Eckhart Tolle

This book is more of a perspective kind of book, that focus on tuning your mind towards looking back at yourself plus the cause and solutions for it. Putting it in practical use, I find it really suitable for young adults.

I found "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me" to be a bit contrite and based on antiquated cold, clinical descriptions of BPD. It overgeneralizes , is judgmental and paints us all diagnosed with BPD as monsters. I DO NOT like that book!!!! But then, this is only one person's review of that book.

"Sometimes I Act Crazy" is an excellent read IMHO!!!!

I really liked Lost in the Mirror, although, like many books on the subject, it is a bit triggering from time to time.

Here is an excellent list of books on BPD: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/...ality_Disorder

I love this list guys. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to start for someone who has never read a book on BPD before? Also, any opinions on Walking on Eggshells or other books for family/significant others?

Lonlin3zz The Buddha and the Borderline was a book I couldn't put down but it's basically the account of this woman's life living with BPD then going through DBT and she ended up becoming sort of like a spokeswoman for BPD at the time. It was funny, sad and entertaining and really hits home on having BPD.

HeavyMetalLover I'm right there with I did not like I hate you, don't leave me I thought it was very broad and offended me at times but again others may not find it to be so bad. Sometimes I act crazy bored me a bit maybe because I felt like I did not connect to any of the stories in it I read about half of the book.

WibblyWobbly I would recommend The Buddha and the Borderline for a first read of BPD it's not harsh and it comes straight from someone who suffered from BPD. And my boyfriend has Stop Walking on Eggshells book and workbook and he said it helped him tremendously to understand what I was going through and to not take things personal which he had a big issue with taking EVERYTHING I said or did personally!

Chuva I haven't read Lost in the Mirror at first glance I thought it was written by and for professionals dealing with people who have BPD maybe I was wrong? Was it written more for people who have BPD or non BPD to understand the disorder?

I really like the books written by pw BPD just to kind of grasp that I'm not alone and I can say I feel like that too! Idk why it helps but I am obsessed with books so they become my get away from the real world so when the book is my real world I feel even closer to it.

I know that feeling, ThunderGoddess. I too am "obsessed" with books on BPD, that's probably because I love reading and I want to expand my knowledge of the disorder. I was diagnosed with Bipolar until half a year ago and in time I read lots of books on the subject, which eventually proved to be utterly useless, because it's been determined I'm not and never have been bipolar. However, they will prove useful if ever I meet someone suffering from the disorder.

I don't think Lost in the Mirror is written for professionals, indeed I would have loved to buy a copy of it for my parents, if only they knew English (unfortunately we have few to no books on BPD in Italian). As I said, it's triggering, but if you can stand it, it's definitely worth a read, it's written in a very compassionate way.

I'm half way through Get Me Out of Here My Recovery from BPD written by Rachel Reiland it is amazing I can't put it down I feel her struggles I have acted the same way I am half tempted to just type out Chapter 11 for everyone because it was extremely moving and my fav chapter so far. But it's a great read I'm glad I got it and I think it could be triggering for some she spares no detail in the ups and downs of bpd the most touching is the the frantic actions that are taken from the symptoms of this disorder but again could be triggering to some who can also relate but aren't ready to see it in the flesh per say. Anyway I'm rambling now but if anyone is interested in chapter 11 lemme know

Oh and next up I'm reading Girl in Need of a Tourniquet!

There used to be a pretty good website called bpd central that was set up similar to this site with forums, educational materials etc.. I havent been there in quite a while but you might check it out.

Thanks for the recommendation, ThunderGoddess, I think I'm going to buy it if you say it is so good. Do let us know your opinions on Girl in Need of a Tourniquet, too!
