Nothing like waking up to a false alarm of someone saying your ex plans to kill himself on his birthday (two months from now). Apparently that was a lie. Losing this person has been one of my worst fears for YEARS, especially now that we're not even dating anymore...which made it seem even more plausible since he's as devastated about the breakup as I am. The person who contacted me was a mutual friend of ours since many years ago so it really did feel urgent. Now I'm anxious beyond belief because even though my ex claims none of it is true, my mind will always second guess that, just like it did through all of those months of panic when I thought he'd never come home. This is just a recipe for a bad day.

Just take care of yourself. Not much you can do about the situation if he's denying it. Though, you are right, that would be one s**t*y way to wake up.

I don't think he's denying it. I talked with him vocally about it and we both think someone is spreading rumors about him. Possibly someone he's ignored. I'm not sure...either way, it sure does wonders for my mind, since it always jumps to the worst case scenario.

Those are some pretty s***ty people to make up a rumor like that. Including the mutual acquaintance who continued it by telling you. Sorry your ex is caught up in that kinda bs. It's sad that people would take something so serious that he deals with so lightly as to spread a rumor like that. Sorry you had to be on the receiving end of such a panic inducing phone call. That's almost cruel on so many levels.

Sorry you had to go through that. At least you were able to talk to your ex.

I'm really glad I was able to. I would have panicked for hours if he hadn't picked up.
