Ive been told for years that I have borderline tendencies. Today I saw a psychiatrist for the first time and she was wonderful. I'm really excited to have a care team that makes sense and communicates. they already exchanged phone numbers. The first diagnosis she brought up to me was borderline. I didn't even have to tell her that my mother was diagnosed with it. I don't really know what to feel but I kind of feel relieved. I feel a little strange.

Hey, welcome to the BPD subforum! Kinda dead here, if you've noticed, but maybe it'll pick up?

Hopefully this diagnosis is a turning point in treatment and recovery can really get going now

I'm newly diagnosed as well. My psychiatrist briefly described the disorder but I had no other information to work off of. You would think they would give you a brochure "how to talk with your loved ones about BPD" (especially given our relationship obstacles), but they leave it completely up to us it seems?
