Hi there, I am going to try combining the Depression and Anxiety Chat into one chat on Thursday 9PM because that is when more people participate and I am no longer able to do two chats a week.

The first topic is tonight October 20th. How Depression and Anxiety compare http://psychcentral.com/lib/depression-versus-anxiety/
Hope to see you there. We will have the first 15 minutes with updates and checkins on how people are doing.

If some chat host wants to contact John25 about taking on Anxiety Chat as a separate chat, that is fine with me. You may also want to consider a move back to Wednesday. The reason it moved to Friday had to do with a backup host covering for me a couple years ago and Wednesday drew a bigger crowd.

Hi everyone. If you have not heard already the Anxiety Chat as a standalone is not going to be hosted by me on Friday night.

Last week we combined both Depression and Anxiety into one group at 9PM EDT on Thursday and went over an article that stated 85% of people with Depression also displayed symptoms of Anxiety, so they are closely related and often occur together.

The format works for many people so you are invited to attend the combined group chat every Thursday at 9PM. The posts will be posted in the Depression Support chat section for convenience.

The topic this week is "strategies for overcoming depression" which you can find the article here. Strategies for Overcoming Depression | Psych Central

Hope to see you there.

Hi there, we are in our third week of combined Depression and Anxiety Chat on Thursdays at 9PM EDT. This topic should be of interest to both dx's.
10 Instant Ways to Calm Yourself Down | World of Psychology

Brukner is an occupational therapist who helps kids who have sensory integration issues be able to keep it together in school. However, her calming techniques are brilliant for adults, too.

This can be a fun chat. Just bring your own special calming techniques. Hope to see you there.

Well coping with the holidays made for a lively discussion and we did not finish all the questions. People in the chat wanted to continue the chat this week, so that is what we are doing.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am sorry for the late notice about chat tonight.

There is Depression-Anxiety chat, but it will be informal for all who attend Thursday 9PM EST. Take care everyone.

There are no silver bullets that work with every person. Some people respond to medicines, and others to exercise and mindfulness. Mindfulness is a vague term that many people call their own. This week on Thursday 9PM EST in Depression-Anxiety chat we will explore how mindfulness could be an option that might help you.

How Mindfulness Can Mitigate the Cognitive Symptoms of Depression | Psych Central

Hope to see you there.

Hope to see you there.

Have you ever found yourself trusting people that turn out to be NOT trustworthy?
Do you not dare to open up and trust other people?

Both of these are signs of problems with trust. This week in Anxiety-Depression Support Chat (Thursday 9PM-10PM EST) we are going to explore issues of trust based on the following article: 10 Signs You Have Trust Issues and How to Begin Healing | NLP Discoveries

Hope to see you there.

One of the anxieties that I have about the new year we are quickly approaching is how to not get all stressed out about the new year. This article discusses the new year in a new way. We can be compassionate with ourselves. We can find a way to empathize with ourselves and not get stuck in self pity.
7 Self-Compassionate Practices and Habits for the New Year | World of Psychology

So with that article as the basis of discussion, we will have the Anxiety Depression chat this week at 9PM EST in the chatroom that will open up on Thursday at 8:45-8:50 called Anxiety Depression Support Chat. Please feel free to join us to watch and or participate.

Hi everyone. I am finding that the open chat nights are easier for me and seem to get a more lively response than the topic nights. For this reason and for my increasingly cramped schedule, I am moving all Thursday night Depression Anxiety Chats to this open ended chat format every week and I will be there as a guide to the chat, rather than a topic provider.

If you want to bring up a topic, feel free to.

As far as making announcements, I will announce any changes here for example if I will be missing a week. If you see no announcement you can assume chat is on for this week. I do not plan to make an announcement every week since the format will be the same and there will be no topic to announce. But I will announce if I am unable to attend.

See you Thursdays at 9PM EST.
