Hey all! I recently started pain management for fibro and he put me on lyrica. He said he wants to introduce meds one at a time so we know what each one is doing.
Well, I am up to 200 mgs on this and I am in the worst pain I have been since i was first dx'd with fibro ![]() I don't want to call him and try to ask because ,well, after all, he is a doctor, and most of them just don't get it! ![]() So I turn to ya'll.. what do you think?? Or do you know from experience? This pain is more acute pain than I have ever had.. ![]() ![]() Thanks alot... hope everyone is feeling well... ![]()

I have paradoxical reactions to medications. Maybe you are having one to this, too? I know a "natural" help for many ppl with pain is Coral Calcium. But when I tried it, the pain in my joints went "through the roof." I also had terrible reactions to the L tryptophan that helped many.
![]() Don't be afraid to call him. Even the drug companies say that their meds only help 30% of the ppl who try them.

Did YOU stop your other medicine for the FIBRO when you started the new medicine? - or are YOU doing a cross over (taking them both) until you have been taking the new one for at least 1 month....... for it takes about 4 weeks for the level of the new medicine to get into your system, some meds can take 2-3 months to get a high enough level to make a difference.

Call your doctor. If only 50% or less are helped in tests, there's no "shame" in being in the 50% that aren't. There's no magic in the meds, just some that work better/worse for some people versus others. It's not your fault!

No, I wasn't on any meds for fibro... only thyroid..and acid reflux.. as well as flexeril as needed to help me sleep.
I am gonna call the doctor tomorrow I think. I was wondering if maybe it is simply where being on something for pain makes it hurt worse when it wears off... i dunno.. gonna call though. i can't take this.... i would rather not be on anything... GEEZ>>>>

Dearest Faith...I'm very sorry to hear you are suffering so much with this Fibro pain! I also have Fibromyalgia, and understand your frustration. I have several other pain issues, but the Fibro pain is distinctive to me, in that it is deep in the joints, and moves around from the ankles, to the knees, wrists, and hips. These joints seem to be the worst affected for me, and almost always on both sides at the same time.
Here is a site that talks about an over-the-counter substance called Glucosamine Chondroitin which has been proven to help joint pain. http://www.fibromyalgia-symptoms.org...gia_gluco.html "Many people choose to take natural or herbal supplements in order to deal with pain, illness, and other physical maladies and people suffering from fibromyalgia syndrome are no different. Glucosamine and chondroitin are quickly becoming very popular amongst fibromyalgia and arthritis sufferers. Used to reduce pain symptoms and increase joint strength, glucosamine and chondroitin might be just what you need to get your life back on track." You may have already looked into this, but I wanted to share it with you, as I have taken it before, and it really can make a difference! I wish you could find something to ease your pain levels right now though!! I hate this for you! {{{{{{{{{gentle hugs}}}}}}} Runnin On Empty

I would definitely call your doctor. Pain is no joke. I have fibro myself and since I started the Zanaflex (for MS muscle spasticity) I can usually get away with the occasional Tramadol and wrapping up in a big comforter with a cat or two.

well, I have seen the pain management doc and he put me on lexepro to go along with the lyrica... we are going to keep an eye out for the headaches that I have had fairly regular since being on lyrica.
We are thinking maybe my pain being worse was because I was doing more and flaring up... which makse sense to me because I was sleeping so much more than normal and I guess I was being more active. So, we'll see how this works...

So I wanted to update... with lyrica and lexepro combined, I am sleeping better than I ever have in my entire life... and although the pain is not gone, it seems to have eased some... for now..
Just wanted to share..maybe what works for me will work for someone else.... I hope...I hope...

I took Lyrica for a short time for help with my ms pain, it helped somewhat almost immediately, I don't believe this drug has to work itself into your system. Why? Well within two weeks I was taken off because I retained water to a point that was ridiculous.... too bad because it helped some of the pain I experience... Please talk with your doctor... It could be the drug or could be that you did too much try a day or two taking it easy with the drug and see how you feel... maybe it was helping and that is why you overdid... so easy I know.. after 18 years I still can't pace myself on a good day....gentle hugs to you Linda
