We are home. They were able to save her teeth for at least another year. They cleaned and sealed them so hopefully no bacteria can get into the broken ones. I put all her food up last night as instructed and checked all her food hiding spots, but somehow she got something to eat anyway and she got really sick during the surgery. The Dr. told me she had to give Belle some Pepsi. I was shocked that puppies could drink Pepsi, but thought, well, it settles my stomach. What she actually did was give Belle a shot of Pepsid!

Belle has cried for hours, but I turned on Mickey Mouse for her and covered her up with her favorite blanket and she is finally asleep. She can have some broth or soft food tonight.

Liz, you were right. I wouldn't leave her, and when I tried to stand up to talk to the Dr. I couldn't walk!

Belle was sick all night. She couldn't keep anything down or in her. She cried and cried with her tummy.
I fixed some chicken, rice and no salt chicken broth this morning and then called the vet in case they wanted to see her before she had anything to eat. The Dr. said I was doing the right thing and that Belle has to have a "nausea" shot before she has anesthesia from now on. Belle can have one TB of chicken mixed with one TB of rice at a time. I have to mush them all together with my fingers or she won't eat the rice. So, we're fighting the good fight today, but tomorrow should be much better. Her eyes are bright today and that's a really good sign.

I have a question. Do any of you receive anything for your pain? Here in my state, no one will prescribe anything other than the methotrexate and plaquinil. It's not enough. I can't take any more over the counter meds because of my liver and kidneys. Do you have any suggestions?

Jan, how is Belle doing today?
I hope someone else can answer your question about pain meds. I have to be very careful with OTC stuff like aspirin and the like because of my stomach. My last primary care gave me a script for Tylenol 3 and told me not to take it an go to work! I never used it. My current PCP won't prescribe anything for the pain. My solution is to just suffer through on bad days. Sorry I'm not much help.

(my pains are intermittant, mostly, and after having acupuncture, and not being able to get it anymore, i got the idea of , well, energypuncture~
here's how it works: where ever my body aches or complains, i sent rays of light into that area, and in my mind i see the energy of the pain being 'chased away' (or sucked or draining as fits you) bye the light. for whole body pain, i might imagine being wrapped in a blanket of light, the warmth of which draws out the pain. this has been very effective if i lay down and really immerse myself in the work, giving it as much reality as possible (and that's one thing i'm really good at).... hope some of you can use this idea to advantage~ )

Thought I'd post some cheese to go with my whine.....

Between fibro, CFS and allergies I am next to useless. I swear even my hair hurts today. Slept in a bit and still just want to go back to bed. I con myself during the week that things that don't get done I'll do over the weekend. Doesn't happen. I'm feeling overwhelmed and frustrated today. I hurt. I'm so worn out that exhausted is in my rearview mirror. My brain is non-functional. I know what I need to do for myself is spend the day resting. That nagging voice in my head is telling me to suck it up and get things done. I'm telling the little voice to shut the F up, but the guilt is still there.

*sigh* I would not wish this shyte on my worst enemy.

Liz, I'm so sorry you are in such pain and having such horrible problems functioning. I have had my hair hurt before. It's a miserable feeling when your whole body hurts.

Belle is back to normal at last! I hunted and hunted to find "Greenies" yesterday. She has to have one a day. Today I start brushing her teeth with chicken flavored toothpaste. <gross!> I'll have to turn her on her back on my lap to do it. She always cooperates so I hope this goes well.

I'm still in pain. I will try the light energy technique. I have not one thing to lose by trying it.

I am going a long, long way to a special podiatrist on Tues. to get help with my foot pain. I must be able to walk and I can. Getting up and sitting down is a true pain!

Jan, I am glad Belle is feeling better!
RE: pain meds, I take morphine every day (3xday) for the past 15 years. I also take Aleve (naproxen sodium) to get at inflammation. I think I am allowed to stay on the morphine because I have been on it for so long.
My rheumy wants me on Enbrel; we have not come to a mutual agreement on that yet.

Gus, Thanks for mentioning the light energy approach. Thanks, too, for your daily picture posted here.

Liz, I am sorry you are suffering. I don't know how you keep going. It must be very tiring to work full-time on top of all else.

Hi Everyone!

I woke up to snow this morning. This is the weirdest April I've ever seen.

I have new aches and pains, but that's not news. Thank you for sharing about your pain medicines or lack thereof. I saw that my rhuemy noted that she may have to refer me to the Panic Clinic. They don't give you pain meds either - not even tiny, little ones that just help you cope and not take away all the pain.

Belle is much better. She had her first tooth brushing with her new chicken flavored tooth paste yesterday. I turned her on her back on my lap and worked at getting each tooth. She really likes that tooth paste! She even licked the brush.

'Just a note to let you know that I went to the podiatrist today. He is very, very good at what he does!

I had shots in the top of both feet and a lot of other stuff done. I am to be off my feet until Friday to let the medicine work. I have new orthotics and some medicine that I rub on for the pain. I also have to sleep in splints on both feet!

The splints look almost exactly like the cast I had to wear when I broke my leg. If that's what it takes to get better, then by darn, I'll do it. The nurse told me if I can't stand them in bed that I can sit still in the recliner for about three hours and wear them. At least it's an option.

I wonder what Belle is going to think of them? I know one thing for sure. They won't stay pristine black for long. They'll have little white hairs all over them!

Oh, I also have to go buy a special kind of tennis shoe. I knew that was coming and and am not surprised.

Belle is still liking her toothpaste. I talked to a lady at the vet's office today. Belle is to get a Greenie a day, but she gets the "teenie" size and she gobbles them up like they are treasts. I have to buy bigger ones for her. 'Silly 'ole puppy!

Oh my, the debt is just piling up unbelievably fast and I'm so careful about my money. However, I just have to believe if I try hard, it will work out and I'll get it paid.

I can't get in and out of the splints! I can't bend enough to do it and my right hand has arthritis and the snaps are all on the right side of both splints. I called the Dr's office and talked with the nurse. She told me to bring them back in two weeks and she'll try to work with me some more.

My friend and I are going tomorrow evening to a place to look for the shoes. The place the Dr. recommended is far too expensive, but I believe I can get them cheaper at another place. I am hoping for something that does not look like .... well, you know what I mean.

My neighbor has been kind enough to walk Belle. She has been having a grand time. My neighbor said Belle is terrified of wind chimes! Who knew? She reports Belle wants to give every child she sees kisses, but I already knew that.

Hi all. I miss everyone of you.

Jan I am glad Belle is doing better and to answer your question about pain meds I do get some. They have cut me down about 6 months ago and are going to cut me down even more. I used to take a muscle relaxer at night but my pain med + muscle relaxer + seizure meds can not be taken together. Why I don't know I have been taking that combo for 10 years. My doc has tried me on other muscle relaxers but nothing works or it makes me sick. Now our insurance will not cover my seizure meds and my pain meds they don't like that combo so I now have to pay cash for my seizure meds.

I get that people abused them and way to many doctors gave out pain meds when OTC stuff might have worked but the people that really need it can't get it. My SED rate is 85 normal used to be 0-10 now it's 0-20 this measures the inflammation in your body. They can't get mine down. Plus pain also makes your BP go up.

Speaking of BP mine has been way to high plus they found a major issue with my heart. My uncle passed away and the following week his wife had to have open heart surgery. My mom has stage 4 lung cancer and it's also in her liver. My brother in law who finished his cancer treatment last summer has only gotten sicker and it's not from the cancer. According to his doctors he no longer has cancer. He also can no longer eat or drink anything. He weighs about 100 lbs if that he can barely talk and has a feeding tube up his nose and down his throat that's the only way to get him nurshiment for right now. He hasn't drank or eaten anything in over a month.

Every inch of me hurts and with everything else going on I honestly don't want to leave my bed most days

I have been thinking about all of you but I have just been so negative lately that I didn't want to bring anyone down. Oh some of you already know my daughter is in an abusive relationship. One night he chocked her dog then her. She hit him to get away and came to my house. That was last November well he called the cops and is pressing charges. She found out last week. I have pictures of the wall he put her head through and her head. I have called the police lots of times but his mom and him beg her not to press charges and now she's in the hot seat. She goes to court on the 19th wish us luck or if you pray please pray I think I will find that hole to crawl into now

I had plans to accomplish some things today. Going to spend it curled on the sofa wishing... well, can't say what I'm wishing. The cold front that slammed the midwest is approaching here triggering a major flare for me. Would someone just shoot me and end this?

I hurt like crazy and am crabby and grumpy. Mikey wanted to cuddle with me earlier, but I kept putting him down on the floor. I don't eve want to snuggle with furbabies. I just want the world to leave me the F alone!

*Sigh* this too shall pass.....
