I've been sick with colitis and pain for a while now. The colitis just kicked in a couple days ago. I canceled my Dr's appt. today and went back to bed.

I am still cooking for Belle every day. I saw a bag of "beef" flavored food at the store I plan to go back and get tomorrow if I am well enough. Maybe she'll like that.

We are here and I am not ignoring anyone. I just am having problems sitting here.

Good wishes to everyone trying to make it with pain. My day was better than usual. PCP changed my meds and gave me a pep talk about stress control (ha...if I could, I would, right?) He is also sending me to a therapist, but I haven't called yet. He thinks the reason for my pain is stress, tension, etc. but I don't know how to eliminate the stress...

Candy, people who are in constant pain are in constant stress. It's the nature of the beast. Going to a therapist is always a good idea when you deal the things we have.

Everyone, Kiya is ok. Maybe she just needed a break. I honestly don't know.

I made it to the family Dr. today. I'm feeling better today but am running a fever. I am going to have the thyroid ultrasounds done.

I found Belle's food today at the store. When I put some in a dish, she seemed really interested and then walked away from it. So, in total desperation, I put a little warm bacon grease on it. She ate one bite of it and hasn't touched it since. I have never, ever heard of a dog not liking bacon grease! Of course, Belle thinks she's a person, but still? (No, I don't eat bacon. I got some bacon grease from my friend because my Mom used to put a dab of it on top her biscuits before she put them in the oven. Oh yum!)

Anyway, I don't know what else to do about Belle's food. Any suggestions are more than welcome.

A woman tried to talk me into painting Belle's toe nails pink today. Belle would be so distressed. So would I.

I'm down 85 pounds now. I tried to eat more today because it's dropping off extra fast and it's starting to scare me.

Try a little cat food kibble or canned cat food for Belle.

I too am worried about your weight. And keep us posted on Belle. I have a Belle, too, a red and white setter. Note that I can often post short and sweet as I have bad pain in my hands. So you all know, I am 62, still work, am married, have two sons, a step daughter, and four grandchildren; the 15 year old son of my step daughter lives with me and his grandfather. This same step daughter has DID and BPD, so we all have lots of challenges.
I just thought I'd tell you all a little bit about me...

I am wondering if Kiya went IP ? Hope she is ok and I hope Liz is ok Florida is getting pounded with rain. I have to have a bunch of test done not to happy about that. I fell twice this week. Once in the pharmacy parking lot and last night at home. I am lucky my hubby was home.

What I would give for one day with no pain

Is it safe to feed cat food to dogs? The man at the store has a tiny dog and he said his baby quit eating completely, like Belle has done. He said she loves Friskies in the yellow bag. I looked up the ingredients today and it's nothing like what Belle usually eats, so I don't know. Please give me your opinions. Today was another no go, even though I took the rolling pin and crunched up the food and then stirred peanut butter in it. She doesn't like it.

I read today that feeding a dog just cooked chicken is bad for them, so that's not going to work. Help, please!

Jan, all i can tell you is: i think that dogs are individuals, too, and that eating something that is generally not thought to be good for you is better than eating nothing~ (my old cat ate some of the new brand of dog food my cousin bought for me at Walmart, Purina, little nickle-sized diskettes, and promptly gagged and heaved and threw them up all over the house ~!)

My vet told me to feed small amounts of cat food when our dog won't eat anything else, so...it is intended to keep strength up, I think.

Jan, just chicken is not a balanced diet for any critter, but if Belle is not eating, but will eat the chicken I'd say give her chicken. At least she'll be getting needed calories. Ditto cat food for her. It's higher in protein than dog food so not good long term, but if she'll eat it I'd give it a try.
I'm in the dark about your weight loss. Are you trying to lose weight? What does your doc say about how much you've lost?

Cake, you mentioning the storm here is ironic. I just posted about it in the social forum. We are getting bands of heavy rain and some winds, but nothing really bad. We can get worse during summer storms. In the other hand this is scheduled to go on for days. My thread in social talks about the old "stuff" this is bringing up for me.

Weird thing about the weather. I anticipated days of pain because of the changing barometric pressure. Knock wood, it hasn't happened. Pain level is still at it's normal background noise level.

Someone asked what cbd oil is. I can't remember what the letters stand for, but it's a derivative of marijuana, but doesn't cause the high of weed. I see my pdoc in a couple of weeks. I'm going to ask if it is safe to use with my psych meds.

Candy, Jan is right about pain adding to stress, but we can learn ways of managing the other stressors in life to help.

I've been feeling like it since yesterday, but I can't get any relief from it.

I have also had bad back pain yesterday which seems to have cleared up.

today I am also feeling quite depressed- bordering on suicidal thoughts, you want to know the only thing that's stopping me from actually reacting?

Pain is better today, depression and anxiety is worse. I can't figure that out...am back at work and just want to crawl under my desk in the dark and hide.

Hi all still no Kiya hmmm. I hope she is ok. I have had a massive migraine for the last few days and doctor cake took everything under the sun to try and get rid of it nothing worked. We went from it raining here on Friday and the inside of my home was 64 degrees to it being almost 90 degrees by Sunday and Monday. Today Tuesday it's cooler and it's supposed to keep getting cooler so my body doesn't know what to do.

The other thing is my vitamin D level is at 17 which is dangerous low according to the doctor. That could make my pain worse. It makes your bones ache.

I fell again I am just lucky that hubby was home. I have to have a lot of test done. Not to happy about that. I feel like there is something going on but the doctors don't want to scare me. My BP is still very high.

Jan when my McGee wascery very small the vet told me to get this can cat food. In all the years we have had cats we never gave them can cat food. Now since we have McGee the boys (cats) get 2 cans of food and it has to be a certain brand and it can't be any of that pate crap they want the good stuff one can even has a whole piece of shrimp in it.

Liz I worry about you but I also admire you.

Christina how I wish I could bottle up your energy when it comes to cleaning I need a lot of help it takes me along time to do anything
